I subscribed for NHL only, but have cancelled and will be going with Gamecentre.

Trying to cancel subscription was a horrific experience. Took me about 10 calls in order to get through to their call centre. Only to be greeted by an advisor who spoke pretty poor english and couldn't understand the concept of cancelling

Avoid!

I had the letter saying the subs were going up from September 1st,no problem there but my payment has gone out today and they've taken £15.98 instead of £7.99. If you follow the Sky policy of payment in advance the payment should increase slightly by taking 15 Aug-31Aug at the old rate and 1st Sep-14th Sep at the higher rate, but that doesn't equal an extra £7.99. Gonna email them and demand the overpayment back under the direct debit guarantee.

I have checked my bank statement and noticed exactly the same thing this morning. I will send them a strongly worded email as soon as I can, although by all accounts they are not very good at replying to emails.

Same here and they gave me an offer but took out too much I think. Their collection dept is very poor if they sorted that out it would not be so bad.

To be honest after the fiasco with the two months half price offer when I first subscribed, where they then took the wrong amount and I underpaid for several months, technically I probably owe them money. But since:

a)the underpayments were last year
b)they've been taking the correct £7.99 for some months now
c)I've lost the paper where I kept a record of how much I'd underpaid by and
d)I can't be bothered to sort through my old bank statements

I'm just gonna act ignorant in that as far as I'm aware my account is up to date so I'm still demanding the overpayment back. I'll give 'em a few days to respond and if I don't hear anything back I'll apply to the bank for the refund.

I have also sent them an email. I think 48 hours should be ample time to allow them to respond.

Surprise! Today I get a letter in the mail (dated August 14th) saying they've been unable to process the correct ammount due to problems with the payment system and that they're taking £15.98 in order to bring my account up to date, and that my usual payment of £7.99 p/m will resume in September! This completely ignores the fact that the subs are going up to £9.99 p/m in September! Despite saying I couldn't be bothered to work it out earlier I'm now inclined to dig out my bank statements and go through my entire payment history and then phone and ask them where and by how much they have my account short.

Yes I have had enough and my bank has cancelled the DD so they can't get any money now. That might mean I'm in the wrong but I don't care anymore and I'm going to cancel as I only watch NASCAR so will make do with sky sports highlights.

Having trawled through my bank statements I find that, if my maths is correct, even after this extra £7.99 deduction I'm still £7.99 in credit so I'm gonna leave it

Now that the NHL has locked out its players and the start of the season is almost certain to be delayed I anticipate that many people who signed up for those 400 NHL game per year will be cancelling in droves.

Surely if they were signing up just for the NHL they wouldn't currently be signed up?

Not necessarily. Some people may have already signed up to check out the rest of what the channel has to offer or they may have carried on subscribing after last years NHL season ended.

I cancelled because of the NHL situation...and the phone call took 3 and a half minutes. It was simple.

I have cancelled and they offered the channel for £3.99 pm but I got the channel mainly for NASCAR but I make do now with the sky sports highlights show.

Free weekend from this Friday evening to 6am on Monday.

A few things worth checking out. Will be able to see the HBO show on the NHL winter classic.
