Tarzans Greatest Adventure has a hunter get stung by an arrow then blindly blunders into quicksand. He struggles and goes under with just his outstretched hand sticking out.
Its chilling. Every time it comes on I leave the room.
Sean Bean in Lord of the Rings because I always remember it. Precisely because of the sheer length of it. I think it took a good 20-25 minutes before he finally pegged it!
Some of the other suggestions in this thread have been pretty memorable ones too such as Arnie in Terminator 2, Kirk's father in Star Trek and Alan Rickman in Die Hard.

That's reminded me. When little, I saw one of the old black and white Tarzan films, in which at the end a villain gets run down under a herd of stampeding elephants or rhinos. I was about five or six when I saw that and found it quite horrific.
^ I did read comments at the time of The Iron Lady's release saying that the film-makers should've waited until Thatcher had died, so that the film could have had a happy ending!
To Live and Die in LA has a shocking and memorable death scene but that's all I'm saying
<taps side of nose>
I know what you mean. Stunning piece of film-making. Some of the hacks currently churning out Hollywood crime thrillers should take a look at that film to see how it's done.
The one that sticks in my mind from The Omen, is when Damien's nanny hangs herself and goes smashing through the window. Crazy.
Also an old italian movie called Gates of Hell (or City of the Living Dead) where a woman starts crying blood and throwing up all her internal organs. It was pretty grim
Mufasa in The Lion King.
Jennifer Jones in The Towering Inferno.
Shelley Winters in The Poseidon Adventure.
Jack Nicholson in The Shining.
Marcia Gay Harden in The Mist.
Joan Crawford in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?
Joan Collins in The Land of the Pharaohs.
Margaret Hamilton in The Wizard of Oz.

Death by staircase/furniture interface in Switchblade Romance.
The Wicker Man & Murphy in Robocop...also who can forget the head getting blown off in Scanners.
Dracula - Christopher Lee in the 1958 Hammer version

Haha - poor guy, did anyone clarify what actually happened to him?
It looked like he couldn't control his rage after losing his master.
its great that bit
It's not an important character, but it's such a simple yet effective moment, and says so much about J.
One which sticks in my mind is from the film 'The Grey', when Liam Neeson tells the character 'you're gonna die'.
So peaceful and moving.

Fredo Corleone's death strikes me from The Godfather. It's not the most fancy way of dying but it was dealt with in imo a great and emotional way.
Gaston from Beauty &The Beast. Not just because it was in a Disney film but because of Gaston's face when he plummeted to his death.
Speaking of Disney. The Horned King in The Black Cauldron. Mufasa in The Lion King. Bambi's mum.
Theatre Of Blood. - Meredith Merridew (Robert Morley) forced fed his own poodles....er..to death!:D
