I thought you could upgrade from a white Sky+ box to a DRX595 for free or doesn't that apply to existing multiroom subscribers?
I would have thought anyone forking out for multiroom subs would be in a strong position to negotiate upgraded box(es) to take advantage of this new service.
I'm possibly the only person on the thread that is struggling to visualise how this will look like.
Does this mean that planners on all sharing boxes within a network will show every available programme on all boxes to view ie all planners will be identical and include all? Will you be able to sort all of the integrated programmes at the same time?
Will you be able to set recording for any box from any other one?
It's my hunch (going on no solid evidence whatsoever) that it will be streaming rather than progressive download. Progressive Download was implemented for On Demand so that those with slower BB speeds didn't miss out. In this instance, there's absolutely no need to progressively download. I also think it'll wash much better with content providers if it's streaming rather than progressively downloading.
I agree that download/transfer speed is less of an issue, but it is still an issue. Not everyone will have gigabit wired networks; there will be many people using ropey wireless connections on their STBs.
Our DRX595 box is still on the old style EPG, although it seems to have had a couple of overnight updates recently so I don't think the new EPG is too far away.
what!! sky chaging that software again!! i am glad! i dont like this new software,i have had plenty ploblems with it..
tv guide breaks down every other day..

I've no idea what you're thinking about when you're thinking about "changing software" but there won't be a "new EPG".
You shouldn't have to reboot your box even once a week...that's not good! I NEVER reboot my box, ever. What's your reasons for rebooting?
Were you trying to upgrade to a HD+ box though, as this would normally be chargeable, if you already have one?
Upgrading to a HD (non PVR) from a white box should be free though, or at most an install fee.
I was trying to get an HD+ box as all this planner sharing was a twinkle in someone's eye with no hints it's on its way, so didn't want an HD box. Got it sorted in the end by buying an 890 off eBay for £40 - just marginally cheaper than the £199 Sky wanted:D.

What's the make of your box? I've seen reports of the Samsung and Pace new EPG implementation not being as stable as it is on the DRX890/5s.

We have both these. No problems with the Samsung or the Pace EXCEPT the sound drop outs via optical that the new EPG has introduced with some amps on our Pace only.
Works fine if you ignore dolby and go via HDMI.
Which is why IF Sky do introduce dolby via HDMI (as is just a rumour that they might do sometime) then this will be a great boon to the Pace boxes and probably solve this very annoying sound issue that Sky otherwise seem to be struggling to fix.
But in day to day use and with streaming of on demand we have no problems at all using both our Pace (main box) and Samsung (multiroom) via a BT hub and home plugs.
Nor any other issues using the new EPG. Just the drop outs.

The way it works on VM's Tivo, is that at the end of the list of programmes stored on the box, there is an extra Entry for the other box(es). When you expand that you get the list of programmes from the other box shown. Unfortunately, most channels have disabled being able to play the programmes on the other box. (even BBC!)
Try phoning them and saying the box is packing up and you wish to cancel multiroom because of this. They may turn around and offer you a free upgrade to an HD box if you commit to a new 12 month contract.
Thanks I,ll give it a try I had problems with the box before so i,ll just play on that is it an hd+ box i need or is just hd ok
Just been in touch with Ford and they are replacing my 2006 Ford Focus at no extra charge with a 2013 model so I can enjoy the extra facilities of the new model;

That'd work if you paid a subscription to Ford...
Both don't necessarily have to be connected to the internet as such, but they will both have to be on the same network. Which, in terms of home networks, generally means connected to the wireless router and hence connected to the internet.
The chat is that you'll be able to stream recordings from one box to the other. I.E you can watch recordings from all connected boxes on the other. As for transferring recordings, I doubt it.
So will the second box have to be under a multiroom agreement.
Since Sky Go I ditched multiroom so my second HD box is just Free HD with Sky+?

The box will need to be a paid multiroom box, i guarantee they would not allow all and sundry to use it on their spare boxes that were not part of a multiroom sub, otherwise everyone would just cancel their multiroom sub, record everything on the main box and watch it that way through planner sharing (also, you have to subscribe to get access to the planner on a Sky box anyway).

That was my thoughts too. I did wonder, though, what would happen if you paid only the Sky+ subscription for a box, would that count?! Then again, why you would ever pay the £10 for that and not just continue paying the £10 for multi-room inclusive of Sky+ functionality, I don't know!!
and again im not a beta tester and under no agreement with sky. if the post or thread is deleted there are many more links and videos that have already been pm'd over the past week.
The other memebers have already agreed to share them.
Hi Paul any chance you could PM me a screen shot of your Services-0-3 so that I can compare against mine.

Nope to "I might be wrong", or nope to my assumption...?

You'd probably report me if I did

No idea.
When you say, "Free HD with Sky+", do you mean that you pay the £10 a month subscription for your other (ex-multiroom) box?
