Watching on catch-up and was surprised, in the middle of his diatribe, that Lloyd used the term "fat" before attaching it to a name.
Does that not carry negative connotations?

Both carry hurtful connotations and can affect a persona self confidence
Being called "fat", having it prefixed to your name in this case, can affect a persons self esteem and lead to a variety of conditions.
So, in answer to your question, yes.
Is there a difference between casual racism and deliberate insults based on someone's size.
Both are based on prejudicing someone based on their physical appearance
so how about Big Garth? is that acceptable
If that comment didn't just set me off into labour I don't know what will!
LOL!
Paul wasn't even talking to Lyoyd anyway...
I just want to see Paul call him a Smeg head...
Lloyd made it his business to get involved its not like it was actually directed towards him.
That's one of the silliest thing about the plot - it's simply a remark from paul to steve, which jenna overheard (actually, she reacted before he even said it - maybe she's psychic). Then lloyd joined in.
That's kind of the point in a way though..
So he is annoyed over racism because of his daughter being offended.. What if someone referred to his partner as Fat Mandy!?
Haha I thought that too!!!:D
