Daily Mail, do celebs pay to be on their site ?

There is 3 maybe 4 articles on the Karadashians every day, LeAnn Rimes popping up every second day and a piece on Victoria Beckham which always has a good slant, and comments praising her always reach number one.

Do you think their PR people pay for this publicity ? ;)

The Kardashians should have their own little section on DM site, any minor thing about them is made into an article 'Khloe is eating chips while watching Lamar play' 'Kim went to the gym' etc etc

Agreed priscilla, the Daily Mails side bar of shame is turning into the Kardashian column.

So true z-leb fame is a vicious circle of making money and spending it to stay relevant.

Not forgetting DVO of course. She can't seem to scratch her nose without alerting the paps.

Celebs may have very active PR machinery available. Plus DM and its readers have double standards.
Left side anti porn, Right side full of soft porn.

Great observation, post that in the Daily Mails comment section and you will be downvoted to hell.

I think they do. Sometimes there are two articles about a celeb one good the other bad. Its like an insider war.

My guess is that pr firms writes them pays for the exposure. I think they also write neg stories on their clients 'rivals' to make their client appear better which always is an epic fail.
Same with dodgy mostly altered pap pics to make celeb appear chubby or sometimes frail.

You know websites count how many pages are hit? They repeat stories about the same old oxygen thieves because whether you like it or not their pages get hits, and the adverts that appear there make more money for the paper.

To this end, if everybody stopped looking at the DM online from now, it will not exist in a week.

    But you cannot help yourselves......

I am convinced some do, especially the Kardashians and maybe Miranda Kerr. They get so much coverage for nothing at all, it really is unbelievable and ruins what could be a good gossip site. Variety is the spice of life, Daily Mail.

Maybe the Daily Mail just finds out what is the most popular to its readers and then puts more of it in to keep the hits coming.

No, they don't pay the DM. Many of them arrange for a photographer to take pictures, not overtly of course, they need to be able to complain about press intrusion;) then split the fees when they're sold on. Whenever you see a female celeb on the beach on her own, pulling unnatural poses she has set it up with the photographer.

Sites like the DM buy the pics because it's easy spacefiller, and because they bring a lot of traffic, even if it is just people complaining 'What is the purpose of Peaches Geldof/Kim Kardashian/Gwyneth Paltrow/Kelly Brook/whoever?'

Some bloggers/vloggers/authors may pay them though, they run articles that are basically adverts.

Along with the Saturdays and hilarious youtube videos - I suspect PR/payment rather than satisfying the masses.

There have been a few questionable articles with celebrities clearly in articles promoting products that have no connection to them lately - bit of bought product placement for sure.

I wonder if Katie Holmes pays for promo as articles about her and Suri tend to get a lot of "who cares" and "leave them alone" type of comments, yet the Mail remain suspiciously obsessed with them.

I also think the Honey Boo Boo family might pay for coverage too. They barely mean anything to the US audience, let alone the rest of the world, but have been featured a really disproportional amount.

Some zelebs & their PR clearly have an 'understanding' with the DM. They give tip-offs as to where they are, so someone will be sent out to get photos. Zelebs also sell their holiday 'bikini body' pics to the press. The zeleb then gets publicity and I suspect, a payment.

Yes, the zelebs don't have a career other than being papped, they will wear designers clothes....on the proviso they get photographed in them, or even holding a certain bottle of water or diet pills. Check who gets the credits on the photos, you see it's always the same few on the uk zelebs especially.

I remember in Abi Titmuss's book she explained she would be offered a few thousand to go on holiday if she let them take pics of her in a bikini so they could sell them on. Some would get excited and blow the money they were given on first class flights, but she would travel economy and save the money which seems much more sensible!

Note how many 'proper' stars get papped, not many, they don't need to as they actually have talent!

For a so called "Racist paper" they seem to delight in promoting interracial couples almost everyday.

They are also raging homophobes yet dedicate positive, slobbering articles to people like Anderson Cooper and his boyfriends.

It really is a vile rag, but hysterical in its hypocrisy.

I agree. I notice that when certain artists have a new record/film/book out they suddenly get lots of mentions. Alexandra Burke is a case in point -never on their radar until her record did badly-then she was photographed daily on the beach in a bikini
