Loaf tin sizes

I have a couple of loaf tins of different sizes, and recipes state "Use a 1lb loaf tin" or "Use a 2lb loaf tin".
How do I know which one to use ?
Do I fill the loaf tin with flour and then weigh the flour, or what ?

A 2 lb loaf tin is approx 7.5" x 3.5" (measured at the base)
    A 1 lb loaf tin is approx 5" x 3"
    Sizes vary a bit
    Hope this helps

A rule of thumb is that a 1lb tin will hold about 0.75ml of water and a 2lb tin about 1.5 litres. Will vary a bit as tins are so different!

If you've got two the same shape and one is bigger than the other, the smaller one is a one pound tin, it's rare to have any other size of loaf tin.

    Wouldn't you know it !
One of my loaf tins measures 3.5 inches x 7.5 inches and the other measures 4 inches x 8.5 inches !

Sounds like the smaller one you've got is deffo a 2 lb one, the other sounds more like a kilo. It depends on the shape tho. You should be able to use either of those for a recipe calling for a 2 lb tin

I bought the smaller one years ago and I bought the larger one (two of them) yesterday at my local Asda
