Genuinely funny comedies?

There are tons of comedies out there and this is somewhat inspired by the 'Why do people like horror films?' thread - what comedies have you found laugh out loud funny?

The most recent one I remember for me was The Heat, which I watched back in January. I loved it! My favourite scene that had me laughing out loud was when Sandra Bullock went into the meeting room and started swearing (badly) at everyone and then exited the room while dragging her middle finger across the window.

There are a lot of comedies out there and some I just don't get. Some recent ones I can remember were We're The Millers and This Is The End - I didn't find those too enjoyable. On the other end - and I know I'll be flogged for this - I did laugh at Movie 43 is. It was such a strange movie that you just had to laugh at how silly it was!

How about you?

I think Dogma is brilliant, but I'm not sure whether you have to be a Christian to get the most from it...

The first Hangover movie was funny imo

I quite enjoyed This Is The End for the fact a good chunk of it was unscripted I believe? And Rihanna falls down a sinkhole :D

Not strictly a comedy, but 'The Princess Bride' has some superbly funny scenes in it.

Can't think of any comedies that are really laugh out funny, some have there moments or odd scene like many already mentioned, but most just seem too long for me to make them that memorable. Always find comedies work better on tv in short 30 min episodes rather than movies.

Think of "This is the End" as the Stoner films equivalent of "Avengers Assemble" and if you have seen all the films the cast have been, then you will find it funny.

    Some of my favourites:

    Blazing Saddles
History of the World Part 1
    Up in Smoke
    Stripes
    Animal House
    Coming to America
    All Austin Powers
    Waynes World 1 & 2
    Both Bill & Ted's
    All Monty Python
    Weird Science
    Real Genius
    Ferris Bueller's Day Off
    The Carry On's
    School for Scoundrels
    Most Norman Wisdom films
Caddyshack - Worth watching the feature length documentary(on the blu-ray) on the making of the film. The script was pretty much made up as they went along, and most of Bill Murray, Chevy Chase and Rodney Dangerfield's lines were ad libbed.
