Well, he hasn't been granted his own thread yet and as he's managed to get this far, imo he has earned one
I'm supporting Craig in his quest to ditch the Stripper in him and be a success in musical theatre. He's showing big signs of improvement each week and it's great to watch.
Go for it Craig

I haven't seen it down here - is it an interesting story?
The story I want to read is Seamus's - what did he say/do to make them all hate him so much?
Links please ?

Craig looks like he's thrown the towel in on this video. He seems awkward, sad and dejected poor s@d. About time they gave him a show tune to be more expressive isn't it. And, alas Craig fans; both of you lol, we know this is probably Craig's last week, so let's cheer him on and hope he can go out with a bang*
*No guns allowed in this thread all you Orangeists
Not quite a supporter, but my son likes him as they have the same name!
*waves to your Craig o/
lol any reason will do.......orange lovers, strippergram lovers, big bouncy blonde hair lovers, people who think Craig Chalmers must be related to the equally orange Judith Chalmers etc ......all are welcome and gratefully received :D
btw.... I don't think he's that orange
He doesn't look like orange in this does he. He looks pale. He's unhappy he's not been given a chance to show off his new-found vocal talent and yet again he's doing a crowd pleaser.

Would like to know other posters thoughts on the songs that Craig's been given so far? Has he any chance of shaking off the 'cabaret' label, unless he gets a belter of a showtune?
I thought last week he stepped up and it was a good performance. When he was with the girls he did the right faces and acted it all very well. I was surprised he was in the bottom 2 tbh as Chris B was bad. He got the sympathy vote imo (but I wouldn't mind if Craig got it this week, so can't moan really lol)
I was really pleasantly surprised how he sang in the 'One vision' song. He did belt it out and it was really well done. I hope that being saved by ALW makes Craig feel more worthy than he does. I agree with John B when he said last week 'You've got more to give!' in a positive way and I hope he can get that across on Saturday.
Think the sentence - arrogant - would cover it.

...and you won't believe it, but he smiles in it!! Things must be looking up for him.
Happy Birthday Craig x
I find him quite watchable actually - more so than some of the others. He's never going to be a Joseph though.
Well done trixiehobbit for starting this thread. Every Joseph should have one.
ETA - Happy Birthday Craig
Sat 5/5/07 Show: Well Craig was in the sing-off again and he shouldn't have been. I'm a bit disappointed that he was- he was much better vocally than Lewis, Ben, Chris and Rob but still he isn't getting the public support. I honestly don't know why! He was less orange, less cabaret and more 'theatre' and proved he's one of the two who has the most stamina as well. I know his 'dancing' was dire (big Boooo to the choreographer ) but I'm wondering if that is what puts people off Craig? He's not animated enough? ALW made the right choice though to keep, him so he still has a chance I suppose. Though I'm doubtful. The GBP have their favourites already and don't seem to be noticing his improvements sadly.
If ALW has any chance of showing Craig in his best light, then he MUST steer away from cabaret style songs! Give the man a break - he needs a song in which he is performing, rather than dancing, and he needs it now. He needed it this week, but they did the same old, same old routine with him again and got the same old results. He's got the star quality within him imo, but looks like I'll never get to see it at this rate.
I think Craig has improved immensely. I still remember his first audition for pop idol when he could hardly sing for nerves. Like Ben I think these two boys have improved whereas Lee and Daniel are staying the same. At least Craig has the right look for Joseph for the older part not sure Ben nor Lewis and Keith could pull that off.
i think the barricade task they did should have been treated with more importance- only him and ben had the stamina to do it, and the leading men thought craig's battle was most realistic- yet they still moan about his performances and acting!
i'm going to start voting now i think!
his girlfriend looked different to what i thought she would be like too!
Or maybe it's just me going crazy!
Trixiehobbit, thanks for starting this thread, I was beginning to think that Craig was a figment of my imagination, the way he has been totally ignored.
Once again Craig has given a good vocal performance. But more importantly, he was the only one to perform properly in the battle scene from Les Miserables. He was the only one who wasn’t out of breath and the only one to do a bit of ad-lib acting in the part. Unknown to most people, he was one of only three the previous week who didn’t mess up during the loincloth scene and start blubbing. They only showed the first four and, as they were all hopeless, must have decided not to show the rest. Congratulations to the BBC for showing that he was the only one showing a professional attitude to the job in hand this week!
He has been consistent in everything he has done in this competition and just gets on with business, without making excuses. Unfortunately, being left to almost last each week, to find out if he is safe, or in the sing off must be really getting to him.
I think he looks like Joseph. I am convinced he could handle the part, but when he performs next Saturday, he must believe in himself, then the viewers will pick up on it and believe in him too
He needs to show some passion now, because although there are still one or two who are totally wrong for the part, he is less prominent and needs to grab the attention of the viewers to win their votes.
I have noticed that he is never centre stage, where you would expect a leading man to be. He is always at the side or hidden at the back. Last night, when they all should have been in the same shot, during the Meatloaf number, he was off camera to the left and became invisible to the viewers yet again.
Craig doesn’t deserve to be close to, or in a sing off every week This guy will surely end up in a stage production, but for now let’s just give him a chance to be Joseph!
Too many people need to fix the colour balance on their tv's because he is not orange! He's just not the blueish white that most Scots are after a long cold winter!:)
ALW will always have the final say in who goes out and judging by the faces he pulls, he knows that some of the guys, getting high numbers of votes, wouldn't last more than one performance in a major production. They probably wouldn't survive the rehearsals!
In most cases It's all too much like bad karaoke for me and what it should come down to, is whether they can cut it in a theatrical situation. I think Craig has shown that he can cut it when put to the test.
Sorry Trixie, but Craig doesn't actually strip. He does sometimes however do a warmup act for a troupe of male strippers. He does his own music set and mc's the show.
Go for it Big Man!
this is my first post here, I have seen Craig live and he really is very good !(not with the strippers unfortuanately)
If he can cope with 200 drunken scots woman this should be no problem for him.
His carabet past can be his strength - he was so composed
at the singoffs
when he sings in the groups he is always strong, no matter when he goes I think he could make the change he wants if he is brave enough to take that leap of faith
His voice is beautiful - he has almost near perfect tone, and that's possibly the reason Zoe has always rated him. I do believe that Craig got off to a bad start on the first show (or was it the second? can't recall off hand) when Daniel commented that Craig was the weakest vocally - and that must have stuck in people's heads. Because I think he's proved he's not the weakest - just taught to perform as a singer and not a theatrical artiste.
But my word this guy is learning fast. I really look forward to his performances and every week he has improved. He's there with the vocals, almost there with the acting and just needs a dance routine and a showstopper of a tune to show what he's made of. Let's hope the rest of the gbp see he's worth voting for, as he is definitely a candidate for Joseph to me
Very well said Henry Hippo. I agree. Sad news about the stripping though. Hey ho. Still, I have greater respect for him knowing that he's kept things covered. We'll just have to imagine then
GG
Joseph is my favourite musical and I would love to see Craig on stage playing the role.
He showed the others up on the set of Les Miserables.
