Job centre/College course

I was talking to a friend who has been unemployed for 8 months and Jobcentre Plus have helped her to do a six week college course (2 days a week....starting next week) to help her find work in the `caring` type jobs.

Now this person will still get their benefits paid but she`s worried as she has insurance and needs a ABI1 form every month she`s unemployed. She thinks the college course may affect this.

Does anyone know?

Thanks

It shouldn't affect anything. I've just completed a course at college and we had to "sign on" at the college if it was on the same day - the college tell the job centre you're there. When the course was completed we had to report straight away to the job centre.
If it's to get an insurance form completed just take it to the job centre as usual.
It might be an idea to check that the job centre has signed her on as mine stopped my claim by mistake and had to wait nearly a week to get my money or if I had to get it urgently I would have to travel to another town to collect it!
