Hmmm so you mean having this is worse than having someone pretending to be the Virgin Mary appearing to a butcher boy on one of the other local beaches?

Played by Sinéad O'Connor no less!

Dear kiddies, we know it's your summer holidays, but we are closing this popular beach for a couple of days because we have porn and violence to film. Signed, HBO xox

Taking off my 'anti Game of Thrones' hat for a moment, this is an interesting issue not exclusive to the filth peddling HBO. The latest Star Wars film is being shot on a remote island in Ireland.

It seems governments have no problem pimping out our countries to Hollywood, but are the proper precautions being taken to protect not only the welfare of locals, but also of wildlife?
It's pretty obvious that you actually work for HBO. Do your bosses know you are doing this? Day after day after day?

The only real question would be wether the money raised from allowing the use of the beach for a set (which isn't as much as you might think) is re-invested in the community

As far as the show itself goes, no more vile than the endless stream of reality tv rubbish

I've not watched it yet either but I have the season 1-3 box set for a rainy day.. not a big fan of tv and tend to only watch as a last resort (i.e. poor weather/sick etc)

What is "Game of Thrones"? Is it a Playstation thing?

Something featuring broadcaster Jon Snow I'm led to believe.

Why would (s)he accuse HBO of deliberately hiring misogynists then? Surely (s)he'd be out bragging about how progressive and feminist Girls is. Although I did ask him/her one what (s)he though of Girls, didn't get a response...

Due to dmuk's constant bleating about this show I've finally given in and downloaded the first 3 series' from t'internet. It's ruddy awesome!!!

Dmuk - if you're not affiliated with GoT in any way, your quest to stop people watching it has backfired somewhat as I'm a new viewer based purely on your threads and posts.
Dmuk - if you work for HBO, congratulations on increasing the show's audience by one, but sadly, not the profits because I 'found' the episodes on a popular forum so didn't pay a penny.

** flicks Vs and runs off giggling like a giddy schoolgirl **

You realise HBO just distribute the show, they don't make it.

HBO didn't close the beach, Grok! Television, Bighead Littlehead, Television 360 and Generator Entertainment did...

Do you have some sort of condition? You seem irrationally obsessed with GoT?

He's not an employee or formal agent, because he linked GoT with a child neglect case where a baby died. I doubt the studio would be pleased with the idea of an employee or agent suggesting culpability in such a litigious society.

I think he could be a fan employing market trickery to promote his favourite show.

Impossible. It`s nailed on...with rusty, poisonous nails although I am enjoying the idea that you think you`re setting aside your hate in a thread made specifically to slag them off again. That`s quite the doublethink you have going on there.....

No it's a UK beach not a British one. This is the United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland.

    Yeah, that's what I mean :)

I live ten minutes from the Belfast Titanic studios where the interiors are shot, they've been shooting at Toomebridge recently too, fantastic exterior set they built

They used to close the village of Port Logan during filming of 2000 Acres of Sky.

The local buisnesses did very well out of it.

They are shooting this week down the road from me in Toomebridge, they have closed off a few roads, you can see the set when you drive by.

And it's a British beach as Portstewart is in the United Kingdom....;-)

Irish geographically, British politically, get over yourself.
Next you'll be arguing that Shane O'Neills castle where they shoot at is 'British'

I bet he does while he's got his face stuck to the screen, trying to get a glimpse of a furry bush...

Being pedantic Ireland is part of the British isles, so a British beach it is.

But of course if you want to go all geographical on me then Northern Ireland and the beach in question is on the island of Ireland.
