Many shows, particularly comedies, have characters who are never seen but are mentioned regularly and may be spoken to on the phone; characters who only have a voice; or characters who are never seen fully. There are a few lists on the net but I thought it would be fun to list the ones we can remember.

    I'll start with:
    Charlie from Charlie's Angels (voice)
Sheridan Bucket from Keeping Up Appearances (phone)
Abigail of Abigail's Party (mentioned / eponymous)
Wilson from Home Improvement (face obscured)
Miss Cathcart, Peggy's boss in Hi de hi.

Technically you did see Mrs Columbo. She got her own spin-off show, in which you never saw Columbo

And the biggest of all, the character in Star Trek mentioned in every episode.

He seems to change rank and job sometimes but normally holds the rank of Captain.

You mean Audrey? I think she was seen in The Anniversary when Sybil is crying in the car. At least I think it was her.
