Especially when they advertise it as unlimited.

I've been with Tesco BB, since March this is what I have to say about the service

Thomson Router, can be a bit flaky with Wifi and needing reset every so often.

Never been affected by the "Unlimited" Cap even though I use Netflix and watch A lot of Twit.tv streaming and Internet Radio.

Down time between providers was about an hour.

When I took out Tesco BB, the offer was 5000 points, I didn't get these until the first bill had been produced and paid, so about 6 weeks from service starting.

Other than these issues, It was far superior to my off network Sky BB, but thats a different story all together!!

Same with android and pc. there wifi router is crap. If you stay unconnecte for a short time you have to reset the router to get it working again. (As in reboot it)

My neighbour has to reboot his router on a daily basis. Tesco did find a fault on the line and BTOR fixed it a day later.

I was with O2 for years and never once had to reboot the Thompson router.

My router seems to be working fine. Haven't had to reboot it for a couple of weeks now.

No problems with the wireless cutting out.

Just got my first bill - the muppets charged me £6.50pm for the broadband instead of the £2.50pm (for the first 12 months) I signed up for. Not a good sign

Got in touch with Billing dept. They confirmed I am on the £2.50pm broadband package. The first bill however is charged at £6.50pm and an adjustment is made to the second bill to allow for the overpayment.

They also said I should get my £30 voucher once my first bill has been paid.

£30 Tesco voucher arrived today, about 6 weeks after going live.

Broadband has been rock solid so far(about 10 Mbps to 12 Mbps) and haven't had to reboot Thompson modem in over a month.

I bet your line is capable of alot faster tho.

am trying to get them to change the line profile to a faster one (tech didnt even know what a line profile was) also they apple interleaving which makes pings high. which they dont know of that either.

I guess thats what you get going via a reseller (tesco is the reseller)

To be honest I'm happy enough with my line speed - it's much faster than I thought it would be. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Question is, how do you know if its broke or not

some faults are not always apparent on your end

I'm thinking about changing from virgin cable to Tesco.
I have a bt line coming in to the house that hasn't been connected for about 15 years out more. Do Tesco see to reconnecting the line and pay out its it going to be up to me ?

If you plug a phone in and get a dial tone it's most likely you will get free connection if not then put your details in on the checker for the Tesco website and they will check your line.

After 15 years I would be very surprised if there is still dial tone on the line!

But according to this

http://www.tescobroadband.com/new-lines

Tesco will install a new line or activate a line if you are in the right area, but notice they don't tell you where that is and you have to call them to find out.

i left virgin when i moved house and now have tesco phone line and broadband, line is £13.50 per month plus £4 for anytime calls, broadband free for a year as i have there mobile sim deal, only averaging 3.27mbps but strangley it appears faster than my 20meg connection at my old house, no buffering on iplayer or youtube. ( it did with virgin ) so all in all very happy.

I was having problems with my broadband. It went completely just before Xmas. Tesco technical support were alright actually and I always got through to them straight away. There was a slight fault somewhere which got fixed and got me back online, and when they sent me a new router it sorted everything. My speed has doubled and I have no problems connecting with my android phone anymore.
The new router is a Technicolor one

I'm thinking of joining Tesco. I don't expect it to be perfect for the price. I just want to ask people how long it takes to go live after signing up? Also, once you receive a bill how long do they give you before the direct debit is paid? With Sky it was 10 days, and I'm used to that routine. Thanks.
