Why do people find the word 'C**t' so offensive, i work with a woman who absoulety hates hearing the word, where as i see it as just another swear word and used properly can be quite amusing

The C word doesnt bother me in the slightest. Mind you, if someone called me one I'd punch 'em on the nose. Or I'd run away depending how big they were :D

You must be a stupid one If you can't see why a woman would dislike the word.

Some women are hysterical and irrational. Of course, a woman or man of reason would realise that there is no rational explanation as to why they should be offended by it any more than by the word 'dick' or 'cock'.

    Well, why not enlighten us.

Why is it worse than any other slang word used to refer to the genitalia?

I use it as a term of endearment.

I don't get it either and I'm a woman. I've never understood all the furore a word can cause. I'd prefer someone called me a C&&&& than hit me over the head with a bit of lead piping.

Same. I'm a woman and I don't find it offensive in the slightest. I think that if you do find a word offensive you should stop and then no-one can use it to offend you.

    If that makes any sense.

So, a word for female genitalia is the most offensive word ever. I'm not quite sure what to think about that.

I feel its a very offensive word, I find it very embarrassing if I hear it personally. I'm quite a shy person offline although other swear words don't offend me as much as that one. I seem to remember being told by someone that it has a violent meaning, rather than just meaning the part of the body? I guess its a bit like the other words mentioned relating to males, which are a bit crude I suppose but I don't think of as especially violent as such(?).

I know someone at work also takes it very personally when people use that word, she told her students that she could overlook swearing unless its that word, which she doesn't tolerate and anyone caught shouting it out etc. would be reported straight away.
