The 'humanisation' of animals is known as 'anthropomorphisation.' Disney and Warner Brothers specialised in it, in their cartoons.
I don't remember seeing Magpie that often, because I was habitually a BBC watcher after school. However, it had a decent theme tune, and interesting credits sequence-quite pyschedelic, if I recall.
The Flinstones title sequence: I remember that bit with Fred being left locked out by the big cat, hammering on the front door, and callign for Wilma. There is also a part when they load something made of stone on the 'car,' which is so heavy it makes the vehicle overturn.
That was some sort of huge take-out dino-chop for their dinner
Did the BBC news used to be on at 5.40 pm, then, after the last five minutes children's programme, with Nationwide being on at 6pm? Regarding Nationwide versus the local news, I thought that Nationwide incorporated a section that was specific to each area and its news, as well as one everyone viewed-or am I wrong there?
Yep. That's why it was called Nationwide  I think Nationwide played a large part in getting regional accents introduced onto main TV as before then presenters sounded mostly hoity-toity Queen's-English and all that
The theme music to Dogtanian was a major draw for me. One for all and all for one,
Muskehounds are already ready.
Rhubarb and Custard theme just fitted the odd nature of the show with the jumping animation and primary colours.
Pigeon Street, pretty sure that was another of Derek Griffiths vocal outings. Linky for you.

I don't think there was any need for the sarky rolleyes.
FM was simply asking about the program format.
According to Wiki After the introduction and round-up, the BBC regions opted out for a twenty minute section for local news round ups (Midlands Today, Points West, Wales Today, Look East, etc.) Once they had handed back to Lime Grove Studios in London, the regions remained on standby to participate in feedback and two-way interviews to be transmitted across the whole BBC network.
Amanita Forna IIRC, she's an author and journo now IIRC.
I think the other reporters are now in TV production.
I liked rough guide, found them amusing.
Some people wear shades because their eyes are very sensitive.
IIRC she's just got a 'thing' about her eyes, a bit of a complex or something.
Hmm starving people putting you off your egg and chips, not trying to make yourself look like a bit of knob are you.
I think Ms Devine didn't have sensitive eyes, she was just pretentious. Or maybe she had horrible little beady eyes.
I suppose I was a bit of a greedy selfish knob when I was a Blue Peter watching teenager
I also HATED Blue Peter (if everyone hated it how is still on????????)
I also had much dislike for "Woof" which i found incredibly boring and seemed to go on for ever with constant new series!!! (I much prefered some other ITV "kids drama" about a family who got divorced but i cant remember what it is called)
i didnt much like Childrens Ward either, although did watch it occasionally to see how they would injure the next child.
Molly the ragdoll? or Ragdoll Molly?? something like that, it was a brown doll who didnt do much but got placed about places???
I also really disliked "Jonny Briggs" and wanted to throttle the "My mam, whose a nurse" character... although i did laugh when they ate the rabbit...
I did love Spatz though, someone mentioned it earlier.. i thought that was great!

Microsoap?
There were a few shows I didn't like but that's probably because I was a bit young when I watched them eg. when I was small I didn't like Byker Grove (other than the theme music ), Mud, Children's Ward or Jonny Briggs because they were more serious programmes aimed at older kids.

Microsoap was CBBC, if it was CITV, it might have been Just Us, which had Kay Mellor in it.

Woof bored me too, I found it incredibly dull and Children's Ward in the early days scared the crap out of me as I was terrified of anything medical.
I had phases of watching Blue Peter and not watching it, I think it usually depended on who was presenting it, I know I liked the Caron Keating era.
and their was a series i cant remember the name of (it might have been called "the boy who couldnt laugh")
where some king had stolen a boys laugh and the boy was trying to get it back, i remember it looking "foreign" so it may have been dubbed.
OMG thank you! Yes it was just us! I just you tubed it Bliss
It's alright, I just vaguely remembered it myself, I remember it being quite sad in places, especially when the step-dad adopted the young son of his new partner (or at least I think that's what happened!), one of the step-dad's children wanting to go to boarding school and I think Angela Griffin was in it as Kay Mellor's character's son's girlfriend.
Muppet Babies was an abomination of the original series.
I agree. Muppet Babies was irritating, very dull, as well as rather cheesy and that Nanny character used to get on my nerves (I remember that only her legs used to be visible).
My friend's mother wouldnt let him watch Grange Hill probably thought it was a bad influence
There was a lot of that down our way (not in out family mind). Our primary school headmaster would famously say in assembly, "some say that Grange Hill is a bad influence, but at least they were always in uniform" to precede a rant about our dress standards!
Firstly because Big Cook, Little Cook was CBeebies and not CITV and secondly because Big Cook, Little Cook wasn't called Spatz.
big cook little cook was so wrong. my son loved it - i tried so hard to discourage him. big cook looked like a sweaty perv who should be kept well away from kids.

I think it's a Teenage thing, older you get, the less 'cool' it is and the less you like it, it's a bit conformist, hence ITV and Magpie.

He used to freak me out, yet I like him on Countryfile now.
Magic Roundabout - too trippy, appealed to the students apparently.
Crackerjack - every time they repeated it I would want to scream, eff off!
Jackasnory
Tomorrow People etc, hated and still hate sci fi:yawn:
Sister Sister
Are You Afraid of the Dark?

One I genuinely hated was Saved By The Bell though. And Johnny Bravo.

I found the fact that they were the same every week comforting as a child and could still happily watch one now.
Having said that I caught a modern one and the ghosts/witches/spirits are now real in it!!!
Nooooo! That's totally destroyed the joy of it.
Big John Little John
Missing from Home

Even the theme tune scared the living daylights out of me.
it had more mincing than a mince pie factory .
