  I audibly gasped when I read about his passing this morning.
  
  Yes, he'll be unknown to most people outside of Canada, but everyone who's seen the Anne of Green Gables TV movies (one of the greatest TV adaptations of all time) will know exactly who he is. He and Megan Follows were the definitive Gilbert and Anne.

  I was so sad and shocked to read this sad news.:( Lucy Maud Montgomery made Gilbert Blythe such a lovely human being..so much so I fell in love with him....."Kindred spirits"
  
  I remember 'another' lovely Gilbert Blythe ... Christopher Blake... who played opposite Kim Braden in a BBC production of Anne Of Green Gables. Out of curiosity,after seeing of the death of Jonathan Crombie, I looked up Christopher to see what he is doing these days and was saddened to read that he died at just 55.

  Oh, Gilbert... Was just rewatching my Anne of Green Gables DVDs a couple of weeks ago and wondering at how they managed to get such perfect casting. Wish they'd repeat this, to let everyone see how good it was.
