  I don't use it myself, but I know a couple of people who use CDBurnerXP without problems:-

  Windows Media Player (rather than Media Centre) should work fine. Failing that, CDBurnerXP should work fine.

  Is this a recent problem and have you been able to burn CDs successfully in the past?
  CD burners are quite cheap nowadays but if you decide that it is faulty and needs replacing be sure to check if you require IDE or SATA connection
