I got in a black cab the other day and this sign was in the window. The spelling is exactly as on the sign, by the way !
"DRIVERS MUST INSURE THAT PASSENGERS WEAR THERE SEATBELTS"

INSURE ??
THERE ??
Words fail me.

He's a taxi driver not an English teacher so for that reason it really doesn't bother me.

For whatever reason some people are poorly educated.

That's nothing. 15 years ago I saw this laminated notice on the wall of a bookshop in Birmingham:
    MORE
    BOOK'S
    UPSTAIR'S

A local cafe used to proudly announce in large painted letters on the window 'Fresh cut sandwishes'.

You should have taken out a pen and corrected it for him.

Is there any relevance that the taxi was black? Would you have pointed it out if it happened to be a white taxi?

Yes, they are terrible and I believe they no longer use proof-readers. Their worst and most common one seems to be 'soliders' for 'soldiers'.

That's a bit strange, because the message itself seems to be aimed at the driver, so was it handwritten by him (in that case, why would he need to remind himself?) or on some kind of manufactured sign? It would make more sense to just say that passengers must ensure that they wear their seatbelts.

That explains a lot! I wonder why? I often think some of the articles were written by children as some kind of initiative.:D

I find the mis-use of the apostrophe the most annoying error. How many cafe's have sandwich's, cake's and biscuit's for sale. It's nothing but chronic ignorance and laziness.

Aha, a cunning reference to the greedy Chinese supermarket customers thread. :)

I have to say this made laugh.

Thank you for the afternoon chuckle.

I used to work for a company where we each had to do a short Powerpoint presentation on our "Aims and Objectives" for that month.

One complete div who worked there would, without fail, every time stand up and present his "Aims and Objections."

None of the bosses ever picked him up on it.

I'll assume (perhaps wrongly) that the two mistakes in that post were intended as a joke! :D

I would hazard a guess it was not intentional

The apostrophe misuse makes me homicidal. Banana's, apple's and pear's is a sentence I've seen.
