*Despite prior on-air statements to the contrary, talkSPORT left the Manchester City v West Ham game early in order to join the FA Cup Semi-Final from kick-off at 3pm. They made the switch after 75 minutes of the earlier game, during the lengthy stoppage for David Silva's injury and substitution, and would only return to the Etihad Stadium for a full-time report.
Generally I'm a proponent of seeing one event through before joining another, but on this occasion I think there's no doubt that talkSPORT made the right call to prioritise the more significant match - although that the earlier game looked over as a contest by the time of the overlap made their decision a lot easier.

I don't think Newstalk carried IRN's updates on the FA Cup Semi-Final. I know 4-4-2 beat me to the headline talkSPORT commentary team news, but I thought I'd tidy things up by posting the full details along with news of how they handled the overlap of their live games.
I think that five live have made a bad call about Tuesday night coverage(21/04/15)
The Champions league games are LIVE on telly.
So I don't think many will be listening to five live with these gams being televised.
Maybe a better choice would have been to have had either MK Dons/Swindon/PNE on five live, with an updates on the other two play off challengers.

5Live do commentaries of games on TV all the time
The game they are doing is on pay TV at least and is the most sensible choice unlike ITV's dead rubber
League One doesn't hold enough interest nationally to support commentaries even as a one off, more people will probably prefer CL.
It's an interesting discussion point raised by iceola, I can see both points of view.
While I think it's going a bit too far to call Barcelona v Paris Saint-Germain a "dead rubber", it certainly looks like there's every chance that Barca will score to end the tie as a contest early on. So it's a shame that both ITV and talkSPORT went early and picked up the second leg of it, and there's certainly a place for free-to-air coverage of Bayern v FC Porto. The UEFA.com audio commentary service Champions League Matchday Live - now available on the mobile app as well as said website - is also providing commentary on Bayern v Porto if anyone fancies giving their coverage a go. Like talkSPORT, UEFA.com are doing commentary on the Madrid derby on Wednesday night.
That said, speaking from my own point of view as a fan of a club in that league, I'm more interested in the League One promotion battle and would happily listen to Notts County v Preston (probably a better choice than MK Dons v Doncaster given that Preston are in pole position and Notts are in the relegation battle) were my team not playing that night. Don't forget, they could also go for Blackburn v Millwall, a crucial game in the Championship relegation battle, or even Bury v Southend, a particularly decisive game in the League Two automatic promotion picture.
Given the numerous important matches, perhaps the best alternative would have been an Around the Grounds show what with almost every single game having something riding on it. While I'm not complaining that 5 Live are doing Champions League commentary, I'm sure they'd also be few complaints had they opted to focus on the Football League in one way or the other instead.
It's just a shame that, due to the first day of the Second Test between the West Indies and England, Radio 5 Live Sports Extra can't do one of their BBC Local Radio Football League commentary simulcasts on Tuesday night.
We have to be fair here though, as while February and March was a particularly barren time in terms of Football League commentaries on BBC national radio - a considerable factor for this being 5LSE's comprehensive coverage of the Cricket World Cup (not just in terms of live commentaries on I think every match, but during other hours the channel would loop their daily podcasts. Without meaning to be hypercritical, I think more people would have been pleased than upset had they occasionally stopped that loop for a couple of hours to simulcast the odd local radio FL commentary). Since the final of that and the start of the Easter period, Radio 5 Live have really spoiled listeners with a greater than usual number of Football League commentaries, both on bank holiday matchdays and at other times.
It was particularly pleasing, and noteworthy, that 5 Live chose to provide commentary on Norwich v Middlesbrough on Friday night ahead of their usual Premier League studio discussion programme. I've been very critical of 5 Live in past seasons for prioritising PL chat over commentary on key Championship promotion contests, so this for me was a very welcome development and it's only fair to give them the praise they deserve for making IMO the right call.
I'd be surprised if they didn't do Bournemouth/Bolton next Monday night but right now it isn't in the schedules, surely they can't ignore that one?
I'd say they should do Brighton/Watford on Saturday lunchtime rather than Soton/Spurs but it looks like they've gone with the race for 5th place.
However, their coverage recently has been good, I don't think not doing League One or Blackburn/Milwall can be complained about too much but I understand the points being made.
I'd imagine that most people following those games would use local radio, I think once you get down to League 1, the casual football fan would lose interest.
Even TV thinks the same with more Conference games than L1/2 games!

Toulon v Leinster - Dave McIntyre, Kevin Wood, Liam Toland and Gavin Duffy (3.15pm commentary)
Premier League (as IRN)
Manchester City v West Ham United - Peter Smith
Newcastle United v Tottenham Hotspur - Grahame Lloyd
Hurling: Allianz League Semi-Finals
Cork v Dublin & Waterford v Tipperary (Nowlan Park) - Oisin Langan
I don't think Newstalk carried IRN's updates on the FA Cup Semi-Final. I know 4-4-2 beat me to the headline talkSPORT commentary team news, but I thought I'd tidy things up by posting the full details along with news of how they handled the overlap of their live games.
Manchester City v West Ham United - Ian Cheeseman and Shaun Goater - commentary
The Champions league games are LIVE on telly.
So I don't think many will be listening to five live with these gams being televised.
Maybe a better choice would have been to have had either MK Dons/Swindon/PNE on five live, with an updates on the other two play off challengers.
The game they are doing is on pay TV at least and is the most sensible choice unlike ITV's dead rubber
League One doesn't hold enough interest nationally to support commentaries even as a one off, more people will probably prefer CL.
It's the correct decision IMO
The thing is Talksprt are also covering the games.
Considering that most people who will be in their own homes,
will be watching and not listening, this report puts things into a safety perspective.
