This marks a significant acceleration in one of the government’s biggest reforms and is a sign of the success of the policy so far. This expansion will be for new claims from single jobseekers.

So its basically new claimants for JSA only at the moment.

    So far UC has been an unmitigated disaster with IDS delivering a caseload in April 2014 of less than 0.6% of that originally promised by him. Clearly it still cannot cope with anything except the most basic of cases.

    New applications for ‘legacy benefits’, such as housing benefit, will be closed from 2016. He sounds like he knows he's not going to be around once sh*t hits the fan.
