Firstly there was all of the always-online, DRM, no used games nonsense, with U-turns aplenty. They then postponed the launch in a number of countries, whilst deciding that Kinect was no longer mandatory although you still have to buy it. And now when it does launch, the Kinect speech recognition, which they claim is one of key features of the Xbox One ecosystem will only be available in 5 of those countries.

SERIOUSLY??
What are these guys doing? Why the hell isn't all of this ready to roll? What a shambles!

And only available to 5 countries on launch date, you should have read it properly
Xbox voice commands will not be available in all
markets on the product release date. Voice commands
will be available at launch in US, UK, CA, FR, and DE.
Kinect could never understand my accent anyway...
Its a U-turn, if they listened to their customers they would not have implemented them in the first place.
Also the OP clearly says its at launch and provides a link.
Edit: im not saying this is a U turn (its not) I was referencing the earlier changes.
I do see it as a smack in the face to that line they're giving on why they delayed release in many EU countries - they blamed that on localisation and Kinect-tuning and yet they're going to launch in countries without it anyway.
I should have read it properly? I said "when it does launch" I didn't claim it would never work in the other countries, did I?
As for "listening to customers" they spent weeks arrogantly justifying their policies before finally climbing down. They changed because they had to, not out of any kind of respect or goodwill.
The point is this; at the initial launch they banged on and on about Kinect and the speech interface, and it finally turns out, buried away in the smallest of small print, that this key feature will be absent for a large proportion of users at launch, despite postponements due to "localisation issues"
Years of planning and experience, and they just look like a bunch of amateurs.
Today's words are
'U turn'
'Lost the plot'
'Ps4'
''
'Fanboy'
'Delayed'
'50%'
'Xbots'
'180'
And 'NSA'
3 words is a line and a full house gets you an Xbox sticker.:p
Oh dear.
I didn't start the thread to be purposely negative. I'll say for the umpteenth time that I'm an Xbox gamer, and have been since 2002.
But it's gobsmacking what a mess they have made of the whole Xbox One launch process, and this is yet another example of that.
Wait? You made a whole thread to ridicule other posters.
Pot kettle black
And for the record, you called me a fanboy and you had a post removed before calling the guy who reported your post a fanboy.i never reported you but I would have if i wasn't at work at the time. Name calling is childish.
I apologise for my post last night. It was intended as a joke and not directed at your OP.
Had fun and games with their Office 2013 software last night - again its a product that wasn't fully finished and doesn't look like it had been fully QA tested!
Unfortunately you can expect no less from Microsoft.
No I made that thread because of the absurd situation that anytime something negative was posted in that other thread it was reported and removed. And the point was also made several times that anything negative about the Xbox one on the xbox forum would be... well hang on let me get that quote aaaannnnd look what happens.
Oh I called you a fanboy? Well first of all I would like to apologise. I was clearly way of the mark. I couldn't have been more wrong. I don't know what I was thinking. On a side note Im glad you got through it ok though. It must have been a tough time. Sorry again.
Then you'd cough and swap guns or throw a grenade - utterly useless.
No worries mate.
I'm just annoyed the direction Microsoft are going in, I wanted an Xbox one before all the DRM and Kinect etc was announced but my feelings for them have soured. Now on principal I wont get one. I'm a gamer and I don't believe what they are doing (and certainly what they wanted to do) is good for gaming. Everything they are doing lately just seems to be geared at not only taking your money (which is perfectly fine) its taking all of your money.
Hopefully they get things sorted before they launch for the rest of Europe in 2014.:)
What I find strange is why Australia, New Zealand and Ireland are not there, All 3 are launch countries.
Albert Penello states that there are 8 languages supported on the Xbox but only 5 languages supported by voice recognition
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=79001409&postcount=520
So if we assume that English is supported then either French, German, Spanish, Italian or Portuguese is not going to be supported at launch. That means at least one country is going to get the box but with no voice support, yet Switzerland could have got the box with voice support but wont get it at launch.
Are Microsofts lies unravelling?
Looks more like they are rushing to launch ahead or at the same time as Sony even though I suspect this is not a finished product! If you haven't fully localized your product for launch then why launch it and announce it originally? Also we haven't as of yet had confirmation as to what services (sky etc) will be supported in the UK yet. It screams of a rush to the market.
And no I;m def not buying an xbox one - I was keen on going xbox this time around but this launch nonsense, especially the home entertainment centre side of it, has completely put me off.
Shame because I actually liked the xbox 360 - the controller especially was perfect for FPS games.
I really hope that they don't delay the launch. MS have done a good job with the vision for the Xbox One. A lot of staff have put a huge amount of effort in to the product and any delay would be a kick in the teeth for them. I'm sure the atmosphere in the Dev labs is bad enough at the moment and they don't need any more shit to hit the fan.
