The break up reason for it and the speedy make up just didn't make sense. Amy and Rory have known and loved eachother since they were kids. Would they really not be able to comunicate their feelings to eachother by now ?. Infertility is a small tragedy affecting 1 in 6 couples. Some do break up over the strain it takes on the relationship. However there are other ways to have a family. Did they never talk about maybe using a surrogate or adopting?.Plus Amy has been described as "bloody minded, contrary and totally unpredictiable". Would she reallly give up the hope and dream of a family with Rory just like that ?. Rory works as a nurse. They could easily find a specialist to try and treat her.Repair whatever damage was done at demons run. Even if it meant experimental surgery or drugs it would be worth a try to become parents (again).Imagine roles reversed if Rory couldn't give Amy another child. Would he have released her from their marriage vows just so she could fufill her dream with another man?. To make her happy i think he would do anything he loves her that much. They are soul mates and belong together. Plus Dana Scully in X Files thought she was infertile too after being abducted and experimented on. She then ended up giving birth to Mulders son William her body had healed on it's own. Miracles do happen.

I thought Asylum of the Daleks was a great episode.

However this was a niggle. Was unnecessary to the story and beyond that it was unbelievable for the characters. I think they were trying to ham up the "this is life, its what happens when youre not here"

That aside though, cool episode :)

Amy signed the divorce papers as Amy Williams. That would make them divorced ... in AMerica. This side of the Pond, each party would receive a Decree Absolute from a Magistrates Court.

Maybe they where a bit reluctant to get more medical help because they couldn't explain what happened with out people thinking they where mad.

Right, because no one working in a hospital or clinic would expect anything like that to show up in her medical records?

I actually thought this was quite well played out myself, obviously the confines of the episode make it impossible to explore the in's and out's in depth, but it was nicely done none the less.

Yeah, turning that scene into Rory describing the mechanics of the UK divorce process at length would have been brilliant drama.

I didn't swallow Amy's given reason. But having suspended disbelief for the sake of enjoyment, it was all done very well. I thought it was a terrific showcase of the Doctor's briliance. Patching their marriage up while battling the Daleks. And Karen and Arthur acted it well.

I didn't particularly want an episode taken up with showing their marriage disintegrate for more in depth and plausible reasons, so what Moffat came up with was a reasonable compromise. Not the most perfect logic, but a bit of dramatic licence was worth it.

This is Amy we're talking about, after all. She seems perfectly emotionally articulate talking to the Doctor, but her expressions of love towards Rory tend to be more along like lines of "shut up". The most emotional things we've heard her express about him have been when he has only been overhearing, or when she's talking to the Doctor, or even to her baby.

That said, I don't doubt for a second that they love each other completely, but emotionally vulnerable and communicative? Not our Amy.
