    Episode 1446 (25th November 1974)

    The Hopkins considers exchanging Maggie's old furniture for Vera's mother's. Edward Pollard tries to poison Marcus Berlin against Ken but Ken doesn't give him the chance. Emily feels the Bishops should put themselves up to be foster parents. Ernie agrees. Ken suggests that the women to be retired could be kept 'on call' to fill in in emergencies. Gordon Clegg refuses to think about the furniture until after Christmas, meanwhile Vera Hopkins has to pay £3 a week for storage. The Bishops are interviewed for fostering. Ken, Marcus and Pollard throw a retirement party for the workers. They all like Ken's idea. Pollard tells Marcus that Ken is seeing Peggy Barton. Megan demands £4 a week storage money off Maggie. The Social Services have an emergency and ask the Bishops to take in two black children straight away.

    Gus Ferris tells Alec he's been let down by a turn and he needs a replacement. Alec refuses as Gus is always trying to nick his acts. Jack overhears the conversation and tells Alec he could stand in. Alec realises that Jack has an awful voice and gives him the gig, singing at the Old Band Club. Audrey is thrilled when Malcolm Reid flies in. Alf is not happy about the situation. Malcolm is full of his grand life style and how wonderful Canada is. Percy feels lonely in his new neighbourhood. Jack sings at the Club and is booed off stage. Alec is delighted.

    Curly thinks of finding somewhere else to live. Joanne doesn't like roughing it with Steve in the Lake District. She is upset when he breaks into a caravan. Liz phones the police to Flick's dismay. Curly threatens not to return to work unless he goes to Hartlepool and tenders his resignation. Flick is forced to give the police her parent's address. Alec tells Bet he's taken out a £20,000 endowment policy for her as well as Victoria. Curly tells Kimberley he's not going to Barmouth with her parents. The bike breaks down and Steve discovers they've run out of money.

    Mavis is upset over burying Harriet next to a cat at the pet cemetery and agrees to having her buried in the back garden. Kevin convinces Sally he does not fancy Steph. Tracy entertains the twins and cooks chips. The pan catches light and they are rescued by joiner Dave Barton who has been working at No.4, but the kitchen is gutted. Sally threatens to get her own back on Steph. Ken is furious that Tracy was left on her own and rows with Deirdre.

    Ernie looks after the shop whilst Renee goes to court. Stan spends £4 of the compensation on drink. Bet goes to court with Annie whilst Ken goes with Renee. The magistrates hear their case. Ernie gets a job interview and worries that Renee won't be back in time. Renee has 276 signatures on her petition and she feels that the area needs an off-licence. Annie's solicitor, Peter Smith, brings up the fact that Renee has been reported for opening on Sundays. He accuses her of just being after the profits. Ken tells the magistrates that an off-licence would be convenient. Annie tells the court that she believes the Rovers fulfills all the neighbours' needs

    Joe Donelli refuses to leave the flat. Irma promises she won't tell anyone about him killing Steve Tanner. He tells her that he owed Steve $2,000. He threatens her if she tells anyone. Billy tells Annie he'll get her a new barmaid. Val shuns Ray. Bet agrees to be the new barmaid at the Rovers but Annie tells Billy to get rid of her; she's lowering the tone. He refuses. Val tells Ray about Ken's phone call.

    Carmel eagerly does all the housework at No.8. With Randolph Taylor's operation set for January, Kimberley tells Curly she wants to marry in April. Phyllis trips in the Street and scratches her knees. Doug comes to her aid and drives her home. Harry Potts gets Derek to clean out all the drains by himself. Lisa is confused by her feelings for Des as she loves Terry. She decides to stay away from Des. Derek decides to resign; he can't take Potts anymore. Curly decides to build an observatory for his telescope in the attic. Angie warns him that Kimberley might not be supportive. Richard Willmore tells Bet she has to enter the Rovers in a superquiz to boost trade. Maggie thanks Ken for helping her to enjoy herself again. Bet is trapped into accepting Reg as team leader for the superquiz.

    Andy and Steve avoid each other. Bet thinks that Alec's health is failing. He tells her he's just brought his will up to date. Liz tells Flick that Steve has a lot of girlfriends. Jenny agrees with Joanne that she shouldn't be treated like a prisoner. Flick and Liz realise that they're making matters worse by stopping the kids seeing each other. They change their approach. Bet feels Victoria has taken over Alec's affections and worries about his will. Alma is annoyed at Audrey's part time attitude and longs for Martin to finish working his notice at the hospital. Jim assures Andy he loves both his sons equally. Joanne tells Steve she wants to spend the rest of the holiday with him. Jack thinks about renting Curly's room out. Flick discovers her parents are coming home.

    Episode 2429 (11th July 1984)

    Mavis is a bag of nerves at the talent concert, fearing the turns will be awful. Billy acts as Master of Ceremonies at the concert. Percy, as "Old Enoch", starts the concert with his farmyard impersonations. They are awful but he thinks the act went down well. Alf tells jokes but none of his jokes are funny. Curly sings a song, "My Heart is a Bridge" accompanied by his guitar. Kevin and Terry harmonise with percussion. Vera and Ivy dress as tramps and sing "We're a Couple of Swells". Gail looks after Nicky whilst the family are at the concert. George Hepworth calls on her and tells her he fancies her. She is frightened and tries to fight him off as he drags her to the floor.

    Jenny accuses Rita of being vindictive. Vera pushes Curly to take Kimberley out but he isn't keen. Alan is released from the police station when the police find The Kabin intruders - some lads caught trying to sell the stolen videos. Jenny is thrilled. Curly is forced into asking Kimberley for a date. Eddie Ramsden makes a play for Tina but she isn't interested. Vera match-makes between Kimberley and Curly. When Eddie bothers Tina, Kevin defends her, a scuffle ensues and Eddie is thrown out of the Rovers. Alan tells Rita she owes him an apology over The Kabin break-in and threatens her.

    Len refuses to let Rita sing at the Gatsby as its New Year's Eve. Ken returns from Glasgow with Susan Barlow. Rita is furious when Len promises her a big night out at a new club but forgets to get tickets. Deirdre and Susan like each other. Ken is put out at Susan's sexy clothes when she dresses up for a Community Centre disco. Ken and Deirdre decide not to go out but see the New Year in together at No.1. Alf is chosen to let the New Year in at the Rovers. He gets kidnapped by a group of three women going to a party in Bessie Street. Fred goes looking for him and goes to the party too. Fred phones Len and alerts him about the party - he and Alf are the only men. Len sneaks out with Bert and Eddie. Rita, Ivy and Renee realise their men have deserted them.
