I have three nominations in this category and I'd like to hear the views of others on this subject.
The are:
Alphas (2011)
FlashForward (2009)
Invasion (2005)
These series originate from North America and the sad thing is that the US networks and channels are so ratings driven that they will cancel a series despite its dramatic quality which often leaves viewers without a proper ending or plot resolution.

Firefly
Jeremiah
Enterprise (yes it was a bit dull, but then when it got better it got cancelled)
The 4400 - Cancelled abruptly and the story was never properly finished on screen (I think a follow up novel tied the story)
The Lost Room - brilliant mini series from the the then Sci-Fi Channel. originally it was a backdoor mini series pilot. The series pulled in the numbers, but Sci Fi took too long to come to a decision on a new series. When they did, the cast had moved on and it was very difficult to get everyone back for a weekly TV series. They opted not to recast and the TV series never happened.
Enterprise
Quantum Leap
Enterprise
Dark angel
Damn the American viewing public to hell...
Being Human - the BBC have a lot to answer for by cancelling this fantastic show. We didn't see enough of Michael, Kate and especially Damien. (aka Tom, Alex and Hal)
The 4400 - I really enjoyed this. I watched it over the past month - all four series!
A full Mcgann series would have been great
Jericho
Jeremiah
Earth 2
I'm worried about the futures of Touch and Revolution as I really enjoy these shows.but I hear ratings news isn't good.
That said I'm not fussed about the demise of Terra Nova
Dark Skies
I never knew that but strangely enough I always thought it deserved a full series
Only if it was completely rescued by the BBC.
I really liked the last series of Being Human. The original cast became a bit irritating and the last lot worked better than I thought.
I'm not sure about that the second series has been excellent.
The ratings are in the toilet, there's no way it's coming back for a third season.
Netflix have been in on and off negotiations to bring Jericho back for the last year
4400 - could have had one more season to wrap up storylines.
Stargate Universe - I think it just came out at the wrong time so soon after BSG. If it was around now I think it would survive.
Alphas - Awful way to finish a show deserved another season.
The Fades - simply the most idiotic non-renewal of a show I have ever seen!
I wouldn't have minded so much if they'd even rewarded the diehards with a 90 minute special, rounding off the story, but to just leave it hanging was piss poor
FlashForward
No Ordinary Family
Touch (praying it doesn't get cancelled)
Fringe (alt ending/last 2 episodes)
Bring back Quantum Leap & Goodnight Sweetheart
