web camera for my LG 3D TV? Worth it or just use laptop?

Hi all,
I've been considering using Skype to chat to my family on my LG TV and have seen the special cameras online for about £60-80 but wondered if they're worth the money. I have a decent enough laptop with a built in camera and wondered how it would compare just to use my laptop with a VGA cable instead? I probably won't go on skype loads but the camera on the TV would obviously save the hassle of hooking up my laptop, booting into Windows etc, I'd just load the app but don't know how Skype on the TV works. What happens if I get an inbound call in the middle of a programme?
