Will any of you miss Alesha?

I was thinking that while she wasn't the most technical among the panel, she was definitely the most liveliness and brought another dimension to the panel.

I have a feeling Darcey will be worse

Darcey won't be worse for the fact that she has dance experience. There was a lot of grumblings when Alesha came in that the pros were being judged by someone who knew less than they did. Darcey may be a ballerina, not a ballroom dancer, but she knows technique, she's trained to appreciate, note and identify the aesthetics of dance, and the specific technique which differentiates ballroom and ballet is something which she can quickly pick up due to the connections that can be made between the two.

No, I won't miss Alesha. I don't think she ever quite settled into her role, and I never accepted her as a judge. She always felt like an imposter to me.

I do wish her well on future projects though because she's a lovely girl.

The ideal replacement would have Alesha's vibrant personality and Darcey's dance knowledge.

I'm sure there must be SOMEONE out there who ticks both boxes!

Yes. But glad she's more fitted to Britain Got Talent. Can't wait for her new music :D

I will miss her young, bubbly personality. Yes I will miss her. Like the OP said, she definitely did bring another dimension to the panel.

I definitely won't miss Alesha. What use is a bubbly personality when you don't know what you are talking about? Any idiot can gabble nonsense, and her particular brand of nonsense was irritatingly repetitive. Her appointment as judge was an insult to pros and celebs alike. What I want is a knowledgeable entertainer. I doubt that Darcey is the right replacement though. I saw her doing a program where she reworked some classic movie dances and I felt then that Stonehenge had more life in it.

Yes, sometimes she was the only one to make a sensible comment about a contestant, the other three would often just bring out their usual scripted one-liners.

Not really. Although I think she improved as a judge, she still lacked the credibility to be a judge in my eyes. Likewise, although her grammar improved a bit (or I stopped hearing it) I won't miss "you was"...or at least there will be less of them as Len has picked up that habit too.

She is a nice girl and when she was a contestant her love for the dancing showed through, but she seemed to lose that on becoming a judge. Plus some of the stuff she said when she left didn't exactly make it sound like she was as grateful to have taken part in the show as either contestant or judge as she initially made out.

Yes, I'll miss her and Bruno's relationship and chemistry.

I can't imagine Darcey being much of a laugh, at all. The judging panel will have no banter or fun, IMO.

    Yes, I will miss her.

I'm disappointed at her reason for leaving as it has a feeling of disloyalty to SCD, but can understand her decision.

I wouldn't have chosen her as a judge (Karen Hardy would be my choice), but got used to her on the panel and think she settled in well after a rocky start. Just like the other three judges, she had her bad moments that had some of her critics cackling with glee and dripping acid.

Not in a month of Sundays would I replace Alesha with Darcey and think it is a backward move.

I will miss her but she was far better on BGT panel as she came across much better and was allowed to shine.

Barcey Dussell is not the answer in my opinion

I will certainly miss her - because every time the atrocious Britains Got Talent comes on I'll be switching it off - pretending that the TV is Simon Cowells life support machine.
All too fleetingly she would hint at a valid point as a Strictly judge, but when she took the Cowell dollar she showed her true colours. Good riddance.

Probably, Darcey appears to be a bit of a personality vacuum whereas Alesha was lively and often amusing.

Yes, I'll miss her. She got off to a bit of a rocky start (at least as far as this forum was concerned) but she settled into her role. It was even quite disconcerting to find, at the end of a show, that the judge I most agreed with was Alesha  - and this was true of both series 8 and 9.

Having said that, I'm looking forward to seeing what Darcey Bussell can bring to the judging panel. I do feel for the dance purists among you who are horrified that a non-specialist ballroom dancer will be judging, but we do have to remember that this is first and foremost an entertainment show. Darcey is perfectly capable of judging the salsambchas that will be offered up for our delight and edification and, frankly, will bring some class to the show.

I'll miss her and her "2" paddle and will post an "I can't believe Alesha is gone and I had to endure that" if Darcey is crap. :D I will however reserve the right to change my mind on that....

No, but I don't think Darcey will be a barrel of laughs either!

No I will not miss Miss Diction. But I am not happy about Darcey either. I want a comfortable programme that's relaxed and funny because the panel of judges are old colleagues and no how to interact to give a good performance.

A languid prima donna is not an obvious choice for a prime time entertainment show. The BEEB obviously feel there's a lot riding on it because she's popping up everywhere at the moment - Radio shows, magazine front covers, etc. Overkill
