I felt Dorcas' interaction with Mr Rushton was similar to that of James Dowland - flirtatious and stirring (I'd like Mr Dellafield to return last episode preferrably during a storm);
Over the course of four series, how much the characters have evolved, particularly Margaret;
All of Dorcas' outfits were lovely;
Ruby and Pearl should not wear black;
I miss Zillah.

I just loved the way Dorcas was at her fiery best when she dealt with him. And one of the funniest scenes was when Laura told him that Dorcas said he needed love or something like that. The look on his face! Loved how by the end he was totally smitten with Dorcas. She had tamed the beast in him!

Laura was very quick - I wonder if she ever told Dorcas what she said.
I just remember nearly falling off my couch laughing.
There was so much in that episode. It started off quite light-hearted but there were sadder undertones with Sir Tim's post office memories, his marriage and Mr Rushton's lost love.

Yes, it was a great episode. Dorcas could identify with Rushton's secret heartache over lost love like she had with Timothy. I wish we could have found out more about Rushton's lost love--did the woman marry someone else or something? Another question to be left unanswered.....
Angelheart, if you pass by, I just want to say how captivated I've been by Lark Rise - I was hooked from the first episode. I’ve also been enthralled by your ability as Miss Lane to convey emotions by the slightest of gestures - a nod, a slight smile, a pursing of the lips or even just the crinkling of an eye. It’s a rare gift. Like others on this forum, I will be so sad when the series ends, and live in hope that enough people will lobby the BBC who will have second thoughts. (It has happened before with much-loved programmes.)
Please may I ask a question? Recently you were discussing some of the costumes worn on the show – but what about shoes? Are they specially made for the characters on the show, or does the BBC have a stock of vintage shoes? Maybe there are still companies that specialise in making vintage-style shoes and boots? Or perhaps, as you wear long skirts, much of the time you can get by with a pair of trainers or wellies underneath?!
It seems our replacement for Lark Rise has been found. As expected, the BBC have today confirmed that Upstairs Downstairs will be returning for a new 6 episode series in early 2012.

I'm not surprised. There is a new show starting I think next week called South Riding that looks interesting. But all pale in comparison to Lark Rise...:(
Apparently they are taking Lark Rise off,this is what I've read. Well there's no sex.no violence,no torture,no swearing so it has no popular appeal according to the programme planners.
It is really relaxing Sunday night viewing even though I admit they are sometimes a bit too sentimental and preach to each other a bit. Queenie is a gem I just love her acceent.

I finally got to see Lark Rise last night! Absolutely hilarious! The Margaret, Ruby and Pearl scene where they were trying to walk like "gentlemen" was priceless TV Gold! Had me in stitches!!! lovely penultimate episode.

I know--I told you what this board has done to me! I went back to bed, though, and just got up for good now.
I loved that episode. Mr. Rushton kind of had that Capt. Von Trapp thing going.
Oh dear! Hope you got some more sleep!
Just seen this advertised

Sebastian Faulks looks at how literary lovers have taught us the truth about love.
and thought people on this forum might find it interesting.

I did, and was having the strangest dream!

Did she really say little boys were a weakness?
That blue dress was one of my favorites!
You must watch series 1 forthwith! (That's my costume drama vernacular. )
She said that about little boys in that 3rd series episode where Dorcas was the judge for the competition between the boys and the girls.
