Being a politics forum we are probably more aware of what is actually going on.

Judging by what a lot of people write I'd say the opposite! :p:D

There's always been a Labour bias on DS that's not reflected in real voting, just as the DS reality show polls also don't accurately predict who goes/stays/wins on those sorts of shows.

I'll still be voting the same as I did the last time. I can hold my head up and say I didn't vote for any of the main three rubbish parties who don't care less about this country or its people.

Labour, without a doubt. The sooner this nasty, unpleasant government is turfed out, the better.

Having seen the complete fiasco that Labour made of its years in power I am incredulous that people still want to see them returned to power!
They have all but deystroyed this once great country-they have inflicted more damage than any of our enemies ever did.
History shows us that a Labour Government always, but always, deystroys the economy.
They simply do not understand how the wealth process works.
Brown was the perfect example of how the left thinks-money meant nothing to him-the client state was the means by which power would be exercised.
He was happy for the majority of the country's wealth to be squandered on welfare and other left wing projects.
The fact the ordinary worker paid dearly for this did not interest him-in the end we all paid the price for his stupidity!
He left the country near to bankruptcy and has not had the decency to admit he was totally wrong.
And you want Labour back to repeat this disaster again?

The Tories wanted to match Labour's spending plans. The deficit only got worse after the bank bailout, to which the Tories & Lib Dems offered no alternatives.

Things would have been no different, regardless of administration, understand that.

Last time I looked Labour had a massive lead in this poll, looks like the Tory's have picked up a bit, but there's still a major lead by Labour.

I wonder just how different the voting would be for 'real'.

It is still a major lead indeed but in the world out there, it's closer than that for sure. However, the more votes on here, the more realistic it is to make some sort of conclusion.

You really need to run the poll weekly. The DS weekly tracker.

All more votes will do is take you nearer to the average of all those who frequent the DS Politics forum, but not necessarily nearer to the national average. Unless those on the Politics forum are representative of the country in general then more votes will not help bring a better result. The best you could do is to make everyone who votes also say how they voted at the election to get an idea of the swings since the election, but then you have to trust people won't lie to make the swings look bigger.

    Labour 44.87% - Tories 25.64% - Lib Dems - 13.25% - Other 16.24%

If this forum had it's way the seats would look like:

    Labour: 407
    Conservative: 178
    Liberal Democrats: 40

Labour having a majority 164!

Maybe DS is becoming a reflection of the British people and this could be true eventually?

If they actually bothered to put up a candidate I would vote Green, otherwise it would be a reluctant vote again for Labour to stop the Tory getting in.

Do you ever sit back and look at where the parties stand these days or do you simply think

Labour = socialist party of the working man
Tory= rich kids looking after their own and killing foxes

I ask because lately it's been looking like the parties have been playing idealogical swap shop. The tories have been coming out with policy ideas you'd expect from a Labour party and Labour have been the ones criticising them and protecting higher earners (child tax credits for example).

I will never vote for either of the main three and have not done for some years now.
I vote for the party that puts this country and the people of this country first.

Didn't vote for them in the last election, but would now vote for Conservative. Benefit reforms are a great idea.

Well, I certainly hope this poll does become an accurate projection of the next general election,
Do I think Labour are perfect? of course not, who IS?
I am reminded of a little poem,

    Labour have many faults,
    the Tories have only two,
    EVERTHING they say,
    and EVERTHING they DO,

as true now as it was in the 80s

    Green Party.

Would never vote for Tory because I'm not of conservative or right-wing persuasion, wouldn't vote for Labour now so soon after the Brown/Blair era, probably wouldn't vote for Lib Dem again since I have no idea where they stand now due to the current coalition.

    So Greens it is. :)

I really do have to laugh. People seem to think that thngs wil be better under Labour, wrong! I would like to see a new party come to frontline politics that utilises the best Labour, Lib Dem and Conservative policies.

Why, on a left-leaning forum, with all the cuts the Coalition are bringing in, can Labour only poll under 50%? - this is not even what people would do (as in voting), it is only what they say they will do (which are two very different beasts!)

Labour aren't exactly the best representation of "left" though are they? Socially perhaps but otherwise no.
