Interesting stuff here, im glad that Metric and the Dirty Projectors were mentioned in other posts, great albums. As for Marina + the Diamonds and the Killers, which i noted were mentioned a few times above too, I was somewhat disappointed with those compared to the high quality of previous output. Tame Impala is one i will get around to later and that Swans one is mentioned everywhere so will check that out too.

Off the top of my bonce, i thought best albums were, in a random order:

    1. Grizzly Bear - Shields
    2. Deerhoof - Breakup Song
    3. Beach House - Bloom
    4. Dirty Projectors - Swing Lo Magellan
    5. Passion Pit - Gossamer
    6. White Rabbits - Milk Famous
    7. Four Tet - Pink
    8. Metric - Synthetica
    9. Calexico - Algiers
    10. Cat Power - Sun
    11. Field Music - Plumb
    12. Xiu Xiu - Always

Honorary nods to Hot Chip, the XX, Bobby Womack and the Twilight Sad

As for singles, no idea and without my best friend, chartstats.com, i probably will never get to know whats going on again :(

Seems im dominating the thread, but as i wrote the above another song came on and reminded me of some other greats this year and disappointments:

    Good

    1. Dirty Three - Toward the Low Sun
    2. The Walkmen - Heaven
    3. The Temper Trap - The Temper trap

    So so

El Perro del Mar - Pale Fire
    Killers

    Disappointing

    Bat for Lashes
    Marina
    Animal Collective

And new Memory Tapes album coming out, surely for the xmas rush ha

2012 great stuff although not quite topping Metronomy or Atlas Sound albums from 2011

    Bring on 2013 ...

The best album of the year for me is "Ashes" by Kyla La Grange. I'm actually surprised it doesn't get more recognition.
