All this talk of The Game and A Competition!!

Was BB not originally devised as an experiment to see how people would react and integrate when deprived of all home comforts and put in a totally unique situation?

I wonder how we would cope?

    Yes, OP, it was. But once people started to realise that it was potentially a way to get your face on telly for much of the summer, the people who wanted to go on it weren't the same kind of people who made the first couple of series so watchable. Self awareness, consciousness of editing and storylines, what had a better chance of being shown on the highlights - all of these things essentially diminish the value of it as an experiemnt the way it was conceived. It's purely a game show now, albeit one where people's emotions are played with.
