Those of you who haven't are probably here to comment "wrong forum", but for those who have been on it, don't you think it would make a good film if done right?

The story is as follows ...

On an autumns day in the 19th Century, the Earl of Shrewsbury was in his horse drawn carriage heading back to the Alton Towers stately home. On his way home he was flagged down by an old woman. Curious, the earl stopped, to which the beggar asked for spare change. The earl rudely moved on to which the beggar shouted the curse "for every branch of the old oak tree which falls, a member of the Earls family shall die". The Earl laughed as he continued on to the estate. Later that night a vicious storm hit the area and the tree was struck by lightning, and suddenly and mysteriously, a member of the Earls family died. The Earl immediately ordered his people to ensure every branch of the tree was chained up, ensuring no other branch wI'll ever fall again. The earl also dragged the fallen branch back to the towers for examination, going crazy trying to work out if it was just coincidence or if the tree really was enchanted.

The branch was found locked in a vault century's later when the theme park owners were restoring the towers in order to open them up to the public.

As well as being a ride, there is some truth behind the story: there really is a chained oak near the village of Alton dating back to what is believed to be the 19th century.

I personally think it would make quite an interesting film.

    A whole film?
Sounds more like an episode of Inside No.9/Tales From The Crypt/Tales of the Unexpected.
