Oh yes, I should be more specific. I certainly think it's in order to for instance announce when some actress receives an award, and even to have a phone-in slot about what do we think of the concept of the Oscars for example. What I don't think belongs on LBC is the sort of thing where some author visits the studio to describe how he got the inspiration for his latest novel, or an actor saying how fantastic it was to be asked to play some role and how they approached it - as in doing an interview.

I suspect that LBC doesn't consider arts news to have as wide appeal as does chat about immigration and benefits which is probably why it doesn't feature as heavily in the schedule as it used to.

We still get those red carpet bimbos brown nosing whoever it is on the red carpet.

Glad to see you on Digital Spy Iain, I enjoy your show.

    I just had a thought....

Maybe our compadre iaindale is a PARODY account and we've all been talking to him like it's real! :o

I thought there was some process of validation an account can go through if it's a public figure. The Big Brother contestants who posted here used to have their accounts vouched by the admin here.

Never heard of that for here, only on Twitter with the verified 'blue tick'. Surely BB people don't count as anything special?

Marilyn, who calls Nick A, is as much of a bore as Pauline (the one who is an expert at everything).

Not quite true is it? Only this week I had two of the cast of HANDBAGGED in the studio and the day before I had Rory Bremner talking about being in the new production of RELATIVE LIVES. I also have my book club on Friday evenings. Steve's In Conversation programmes often feature people from the arts, theatre and comedy too. OK, there's no specific arts programme, but we are a newstalk station, after all.

Totally appreciate that your show is more varied and what I would call a proper LBC show but I think there should be a more specialist arts show at the weekend to lighten the incessant onslaught of the regular topics (bleedin' benefits scroungers and immigrants etc). I would even take a Jenny Eclair at this stage. The more conversation 'In Conversation' with Steve Allen presented by Steve Allen about Steve Allen talking about people in "the business" is very often excruciating. (I'm afraid, ladies and gentlemen).

Good point, about In Conversation - the interview where you learn more than you need to know about the interviewer and little about the interviewee.

Surely that can't be a programme that LBC would boast about as part of its 'arts' output?

Mr Dale mentioning 'Handbagged' has unfortunately reminded me of Paul Savory doing his "a handbag!" rendition with Steve Allen. Tortuously awful and made the majority of listeners hugely uncomfortable (I would imagine).

Steve Allen tries not to say silly things about the Bentley and Z-Listers for 20 mins
Dreadful, dreadful, I am not remotely interested, I'm afraid...

Thanks for the heads-up. I can return to the LBC fold at 11.

    Morning all. :)

Yes look at http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?p=44968234&highlight=house#post44968234 for example. You will see Marco Sabba has had his status text edited by admin in his poster column to verify he was a BB contestant. They could do the same for radio and TV presenters who are representing themselves or their stations on here.

Jimbo 's presumably off to the ...Sorrento ?

Silly me he mentioned he could only afford Italy before his kids arrived..

These days it's slumming it in such dives as Melbourne or the Maldives

J O'B used to like camping for his hols: when apparently wanting to keep to grass roots politcally - the impoverished look and all that. Now of course he's really slumming it, Melbourne/Maldives ! He is seriously roughing it...surely his moral compass must be all over the place, geographically and otherwise. :D

Brian is suffering from a serious case of moral compass discombobulation. He needs to have some more life experiences so that he doesn't rely on on tales from his school days for every show.

How can you say that? He worked in menswear in a department store, and had a caution from the Headmaster at his private school for a minor misdemeanour relating to drugs. He's almost as much of a man of the people as a Larry the Sham.

What's Larry doing in Italy? Looking for property?

Interesting politics debate with Kay and Stig. Miliband PM and Clegg Deputy. ( We have to wait and see if that will happen )

Larry Lamb is avoiding the death of Lucy in Eastenders as he was killed off in the same soap (
    Joking
    ) :D

It can be confusing though. I try and keep to the T&C 's at all times. Are all admins verified as I only really know Gurney-Slade as a moderator on this thread? Best wishes to all on DS who moderate us unruly rabble, not an easy job.

Kay Burley sounding slightly less sinister today, maybe the religious nature of the weekend has cast out some of the more malevolent satanic entities who usually occupy her body?

I would imagine a smooth operator like Man of the People / the People's Mockney that is Larry the so-called Lamb would always be looking to extend his property portfolio if a shrewd investment becomes available.

Rachel Cooke really has analysed LBC across a few days nearly word by word. I suppose the station needs to keep it's London Listeners happy, although It's very rare when I've tuned in hearing someone pass the M1 northern corridor phoning in. It's good read up what Ms Cooke has written, although some points are negative and making out the presenters have large egos. Also making out most of Global walk around with there heads in the sky reading from laptops and sipping coffee on the top floor canteen.

I'm in the 'let's have an arts programme camp'.

It would be perfect on a Sunday afternoon ( sorry Petrie) for a couple of hours.

It does seem ridiculous that a station based in Theatre Land has nothing to represent that. It doesn't have to be all serious culture vulture stuff. Could include reviews of both shows and films just opening, shows on tour round the country ( we are national now ;-) ), concert at the O2 , Wembley , exhibitions at galleries, museums ... Anything really.
