I think it's out of principle. He pisses his money away but I'm sure there is plenty left for him to use his jet for a round the world tour if he liked. Oil/Petrol SHOULD be cheaper but everyone is being charged more because the oil tycoons know that people won't do without it and will pay whatever to have it.
It's not like he has downgraded to economy class. I bet he's still buying out rows in first class ....
