Mash-ups? Really?

Sorry if this has been covered already - I've been following a lot but not had a huge amount to say yet, so haven't checked every single post.

But...

Just re-watching a bit and I'm getting unreasonably annoyed about the references to mash-ups. THEY'RE NOT MASH-UPS!

Sorry, deep breaths... but they're just trying to cash in on a currently-used musical term, presumably because glee has made it popular, when actually all they're doing is old-fashioned medleys. Surely a mash-up involves actually merging the two songs at some point, eg foreground 'I'm walking on sunshine' while the backup is 'halo! halo!'?

I do know that this is really not worth making a fuss about but it seems to be pushing all my rant buttons!
