I actually thought Keira was quite good in this. The only poor casting was Aaron Johnson, who I thought was so good in Kick Ass, but a total damp squib in this. Totally miscast.

I agree with the person who said Matthew Macfayden was the stand out.

Edit: that said I haven't read the book

Even the critics said Keira was a good Anna and they're usually scathing!

I tried to appreciated the artistic approach this movie took, but I found it very very difficult to watch...definitely not easy to settle into.

I also found myself feeling weirdly claustrophobic with the majority of the movie being 'set' in the theatre. Whenever there was a rare outside shot I felt so relieved.

That was one of the major issues I had. He and Keira had absolutely no chemistry. It also seemed like the director realised he had no real plot (from an 800+ page book, go figure) and decided to add the whole theatre setting.

The best parts of the movie were where he dropped the theatre and it was a far more traditional movie.

Saw it last night - it was OK but not really my kind of film.

Are they 19 years old? Do they even know Anna?

I wanted to see this in the cinema but never did for some reason. It's out on DVD today and surprisingly doing well in the Amazon DVD chart. I probably will get it.
