One of the few things I miss from school...

Ah, you know when you have one of those odd nostalgic moments? Just been planning for christmas, and suddenly got reminded of our school's Chistmas church services which we had at the local large church. It was always fun, because it was the last day of term, the whole school walked down, sung some hymns, walk back with a packet of sweets, and then home for lunch time, ready for a holiday. Working life just isn't as simple. Don't think I ever appreciated how simple things were, and how lucky I was back then.

Ahh.... I miss the hymns oddly! Singing Jerusalem in the school chapel, everyone got into it! Great fun.

What odd things do you miss from school?

My school did something similar. I always remember laughing hysterically at the rebellious kids who'd alter the words to the hymns and sing them really loudly :D also getting to bring in your own games to school and playing with them all morning before church. Good times.

You've made me remember my dream last night. I was back at school and I was retaking my A levels again. It was near exam time but I hadn't been to any of my classes.

I don't know why I keep dreaming this. It wasn't like i skived off all my classes when i was at school. I had very god attendance, just didn't like my subjects.

    "There's a busy workman,
    Digging in the desert,
    Digging with a spade that,
FLASHES IN THE SUN" (giggle giggle).

Did anyone else have Water of Life as a school hymn?

I had a handed-down tie from my older brother, so he'd worn it super fat 70's style and I wore it in reverse super thin 80's style.

I liked playing cards at lunch time with friends instead of going outside!

Building a Tudor village out of papier mache. It took our whole class a whole term of history lessons, but we were SO proud of it. :D On a less elevated level, playground crazes: skipping, French skipping, jacks, tig, and girly collecting of trolls and pencil top toys.

A girl called Janet flashing her chuff under the table and the boys trying to catch a peek without the teacher finding out.
