Hi, I remember a while back VM where talking about launching their TV service in non cabled areas via phone lines, is this still going to happen?
Or do you think they could launch in non VM cabled ares by using BT's infinity network?

I ask this as I am moving to a non VM cabled area soon.

To what I understand, nothing has been said since, but as far as I know, Virgin.net are still offering the Virgin Media Freeview STB on their packages, but I could be wrong.

With the roll-out of Infinity, OFCOM have recently forced BT to open their cable network up to other services.

    (Sorry, I haven't got a link).

So if VM want it, VM can use it.

Virgin are expanding their TV Network,
by using their own Fibre Optic Cables
    and BT's Poles and Ducts,
also they will start to be using the Infrastructure
of Utility Companies like the Electricity Board,
like they are doing in Wales

This is also a Mandate from Ofcom and the Government
that all Companies must share each other's Infrastructure

Virgin at present will not use BT's Telephone Line for TV,
as this is too slow anyway or BT's Fibre Optic Cables,
as I do not think Virgin wants to use it anyway,
as it goes directly to BT's Exchange from the Street Cabinets
and how are Virgin going to connect to it,
unless they have their own Hardware in BT's Exchange

Wrong. Ofcom have said that BT have to open up their network.

They've said nothing about Virgin having to do the same

Why is this the case that Virgin do not have
to open up their network to other people
like the Electricity companies, other Utility Companies and BT,
I know that the Government not Ofcom said that the Utilities
must share each other's network except for Virgin,
but again why is Virgin excluded,
I thought it would make sense to open up
    Virgin's network as well

Any ideas to why Virgin is excluded, when others are not?

Because its to expand access to broadband etc into areas that don't have it.

No point for anyone to use Virgins ducts when they already do plus BT rolling out into same areas.

Somewhere like Bath where only part of the city is covered by Virgin could therefore be expanded into by Virgin over telephone poles or by any other company that wants to.

Plus using BR ducts next to tracks etc give easy routes for others to run fibre where Virgin/BT arn't

All the providers you have mentioned had their network's built by public money, so have an advantage in regards to the number of houses they reach

Virgin's network was built 100% with private cash.
