Just wondering how long and how bad the ratings are before the BBC pull the plug on Grimmy. Not even his BFF Harry Styles is helping :D

    Down.

And this was the plan all along. They wanted a younger demographic and that's what they've got. Why, I have no idea... I personally think it was a bad decision. I don't think they'll pull the plug for a while yet. There's at least another year in the show.

I know of no one who likes the guy, I mean absolutely no one!

I reckon his showbiz career is going to be very short-lived.

I also believe this to be true. Management doesn't care about having less listener, the important thing is that the 'older' listeners aren't listening anymore. And that with Grimmy they have someone who is more corporate than Moyles.

Unfortunately I think he won't disappear that fast. He seems to have lots of showbiz friends and unless he is truly horrible to them, they will throw him a bone or two in future.

I only listen to the news because I like Tina Daheley :o:o

it's sad to think that the youth of today are being brainwashed into thinking people like "Rizzle Kicks" make good music.

I still listen to Radio 1 (I'm 37), but it's not been the same since Moyles left and they rearranged the slots etc. I think I just listen to it out of habit. :o

Nobody I know can stand Grimmy! I love Scott Mills though.:)

The playlist is determined by the same type of people who decided Grimshaw should present the show. It's fair to say they are not infallible .

Is the music on the station played because you believe that you enjoy listening to it, or do you believe that you enjoy the music you're listening to because it's played on that station?

Music companies will always have music to sell and will produce whatever they can to keep the machine spinning.

The whole entertainment industry is just a joke.

I'd much prefer Scott and Chris on the breakfast show. I prefer Nick on TV than radio and think they got the last reshuffle wrong

You do know the BBC actually don't want you to listen to Radio 1 at your age?

I can't see Grimmy going anywhere soon. The BBC bosses are happy with him and the music industry are happy with his playing of more music than Chris Moyles (though it hardly would have taken much for NG to improve on the playing of more music than CM) so those two joint forces together are more than enough to keep him in place for more than a little while longer...

The only thing the Controller of Radio 1 is worried about is that the average age of the listener to Radio 1 isn't falling fast enough so I doubt it's Grimmy that has to worry about his job...

I just found out he was gay, not that it matters of course.

He is a vile listen and to think he replaced such a great show.

If ratings don't turn around Id say he'll prob stay till end 2014? 2 yrs is a respectable amount of time to stay in a job without it looking embarrassing..
I agree that he doesn't seem to have mass appeal, despite the BBC really pushing him at the mo. He seems to have a fanbase of a very specific demographic:mainly women aged 15-25ish. That can't sustain a career long term.
If you compare him to his fellow DJs,say Scott Mills you'll find that Mills has a wider appeal demographically.
I don't quite get why Grimmy is perceived as cool- to me he seems a rather desperate fame ****. I don't find him funny & he seems utterly obsessed with some of the blandest, least interesting people in showbiz. I don't get where he gets his "hip" image from...
    ...Anyone??

Switched to radio 2 and chris evans breakfast show, much funnier and light hearted, when chris moyles left, have not looked back since! Cannot stand Grimmy, he is grim! I cannot put my finger on it why I cannot stand him.

Im outside the demographic & I still listen to R1. I will NOT be told what kinda music i should listen to FFS! I really cannot abide R2 which I find fogeyish. R6 would prob suit me best but I don't have access to digital radio.
I am determined to outlast Grimmy, its a matter of principle now. This "lets push out over 30s" is a phase anyway,it'll fade in time & they'll be embarrassed about their ageism in yrs to come.

Grimmy is also going to find his close links to 1D a disadvantage in time,
The group may be sh1t hot right now, but in 5 yrs time they'll have split, their fans will move onto more adult, sexier idols (or their own boyfriends) & 1D will be associated with embarrassing teeny obsession. Grimmy will be guilty by association.
(Obv there will be a 1D revival etc in 15 yrs or so, but thats a long way into the future).
I see Grimmy in 10 yrs or so as one of those "muso" types on stations like R6 playing "specialist" music, trying to be hip by knowing the "up and coming" bands. (Ironically for the face of ageism, he wont be able to hang with the 1D's & Rita Ora's of the 2020's as he'll be seen as too "old")
Cant see him being a big TV star...

Perhaps Grimmy could run a competition and give away these breastfeeding shopping vouchers that have been in the news :D

I'm 25. I absolutely loved the Chris Moyles show. The whole team dynamic was brilliant.

I don't mind Nick. I'm glad he uses the team more now. He didn't at the beginning.

You know you're getting older when you start asking questions like this:D These showbiz types are what the "yoof" like. It may also be that his BBC3 show has raised his status a touch.

Fair point. BUT its quite obv Grimmy has quite a limited fanbase.
I don't think the quiz show has high viewing figures.
Personally I don't regard most of his showbiz mates as cool. Harry Styles-popular yes,but "cool??"

If you search on Twitter for Grimmy, half the comments are related to him being mates with Harry Styles. I wonder how many 1D fan girls listen because they are one step away from the band by listening to Grimmy.

He had Naomi Campbell on this morning, is she popular with the teens at the moment or just another one of Grimmy's Camden hipster mates.
