Fancy yourself as a global football expert? Need a reason to sit through North Korea v Ivory Coast? Then this is the competition for you. Many prediction comp regulars will know the score by now, but for all newbies, first of all welcome, and secondly here are the rules:
Simply predict the result of every single world cup match. Points will be awarded thus:
Correct winning team (or correctly predict a draw) but with the incorrect scoreline: 2 points
Ditto with perfect scoreline: 5 points
Ditto in a game with 4+ goals: 7 points
The above applies to the group stage only. Points will go up incrementally as the rounds decrease.
Also, predict which 4 teams you think will make the semi-finals. 10 points will be awarded for every successful nomination.
I shall be posting the group fixtures in three sets of 16, the first of which follow:
Friday 11 June 16:00 Group A South Africa v Mexico
Friday 11 June 20:30 Group A Uruguay v France
Saturday 12 June 13:30 Group B Korea Republic v Greece
Saturday 12 June 16:00 Group B Argentina v Nigeria
Saturday 12 June 20:30 Group C England v United States
Sunday 13 June 13:30 Group C Algeria v Slovenia
Sunday 13 June 16:00 Group D Serbia v Ghana
Sunday 13 June 20:30 Group D Germany v Australia
Monday 14 June 13:30 Group E Netherlands v Denmark
Monday 14 June 16:00 Group E Japan v Cameroon
Monday 14 June 20:30 Group F Italy v Paraguay
Tuesday 15 June 13:30 Group F New Zealand v Slovakia
Tuesday 15 June 16:00 Group G Côte d'Ivoire v Portugal
Tuesday 15 June 20:30 Group G Brazil v Korea DPR
Wednesday 16 June 13:30 Group H Honduras v Chile
Wednesday 16 June 16:00 Group H Spain v Switzerland
The fixtures for the second group matches will be posted three days in advance, i.e 13th June, so keep an eye out for that.
The first table shall be posted after all the first round of group matches are complete (i.e after match 16).
Thanks in advance for taking part and good luck. Any queries either PM me or my esteemed co-host DimbleBurbleby, or simply post on the forum.

I am in and hoping to get some better results than the Premier League version
Welcome Celesti. You can if you prefer, or just the first 16 for now as above. Entirely up to you
Those two options are the exact same thing . I take the last sentence to mean we can just do it a few days of matches at a time though?
Oops I thought Celesti was asking if it's ok to do all 48 group matches at once, misread his post. No, I don't really want three matches here, four matches there - all 16 at once please.
This is the 2nd world cup comp - Demorules did the first one four years ago.
