SuperHub 2

Just come off the phone to complain about the superhub is with its wireless ( or lack of it ) signal, and got told that they were releasing a superhub 2 on the 15th April...

So, has anyone else been told this and what can we expect?
Hopefully not another poor product with no FW??

just use superhub in modem mode and buy a router that works on cable with a strong wifi....google is your friend for that...
FYI i called CS and said the superhub wifi was poo and they credited the cost of the new router i brought onto my account.
this was over a year ago and they proberly won't do that anymore :(

Why anyone would use the superhub as a router is beyond me

Yes it can be. The Superhub works fine in modem mode (at least it does for me) and so you can choose the router you want. (I actually don't have a wireless router at all, I have a wired only router (history) and a WAP and have no good reason to change this).

Does the Superhub2 have modem mode? If it doesn't then it is definitely worse for many of us.

I'm using mine without any issues. I've got my PC, PS3, TiVo and server all hard wired to it and phones and ipad all working wirelessly.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but surely that's what it is intended for?

Maybe because a lot of us dont have any problems with it

When I see posts of people who have had 3 sent them and none of them worked properly, I have to ask myself who or what is the common denominator

If it works fine for the individual then there is no problem. However some of us do want to use a separate router for a variety of reasons so it is important that there is a "modem mode". Can anyone confirm whether SH2 has this?

Ditto. Not had a single problem with it, maybe people with the problems just live in massive houses :p

Not just large, it depends on the wall construction and other things, siting of the hub is very important.

For myself the Superhub is in a very poor position but the separate router (or WAP in my case) can be placed anywhere with Ethernet access.

Standard sized 3 bed semi detached (for the comment about massive houses)- had 2 superhubs, both reset at least 3 times a day, some times back to factory default settings!, wireless range was poor, ended up buying my own Belkin dual band router and putting the superhub in modem mode.

The new hub looks fine though, time will tell if it performs as good as it looks.

That doesn't say whether it has a modem mode or not. If not then they need a separate modem model.

Why do you need "modem mode"? I have my super hub set to router mode and have another router plugged into it and it works fine.

Because you then have two firewalls competing with each other which can cause issues

Two firewalls competing with each other is the least of your problems when it comes to the notsosuperhub
