  well the same thing happened with Matt Smith last time,a massive amount of bets came out of nowhere just before the announcement

  Different circumstances though because a lot more people apparently knew about Matt's casting since his introductory show was pre recorded.
  
  Also Patterson Joseph was basically the rumoured favourite right up to the very last minute and a lot of bookies were therefore wrong.
