Sorry, is everybody's mouth stuffed with tissues? We've understood 3 words so far! It's very muffled and numbly. That guy is OTT, so is the Inn, like of a spoof Hammer film. But I do think JBF is much better already than she was as Lady Sybil.
My sister's gone to bed as she said she could barely understand a word they were saying.
Its Camelford and the problem with 'authenticity' is that it means that people are more mumbly and grumpy than the average drama. In reality in a place like that in 1820, they would have been pretty monosyllabic if they came across people they didnt trust

Clear case of looks before talent or as the other half said ' only gets work because casting directors want to bang her'
Jem told her to keep the horse, then went off with it.
Having the subtitles on will definitely help.
Matthew McNulty was also in Misfits as Seth, and in the first series about the lottery winners. Can't remember who wrote it or what it was called - it was good though. (And you could understand what they said in it). He's a good actor.
She's been done up (or down) for the part. Patience Merlyn is meant to be a once-beautiful woman who has been brow-beaten and descended into slovenliness. If I recall the book correctly, Mary is shocked at what her once charming, proud and outgoing aunt has become.

I tried turning up the volume and I just got louder mumbling
Only caught a few minutes as tommy cooper is on a break but you are so correct, what a vile mess of a production.
And posh !
Posh? Quite the opposite.
I nearly drifted off at one point.
Not just me then. I have to say that roughly 70% of the dialogue so far has left me completely due to the mumbling.

Nearly everyone.
