Will the Russians be as interested in an independent Scotland as they are in the UK?

Why would we need to. We would be welcoming nice Mr Putin to help us get rid of some baggage (Trident) left on one of our lochs by the evicted former tenants who refuse to collect it.

    This happens all the time.

RAF jets intercept Russian war planes 29 times in 3 years
Typhoon fighter jets have been scrambled to intercept Russian military planes almost 30 times in the past three years, the Government said tonight.

RAF Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) aircraft were launched eight times last year, 10 times in 2011 and 11 times in 2010 after Russian military aircraft approached or entered the Nato air policing airspace which the United Kingdom patrols.

The Ministry of Defence said that at no time did the Russian planes breach UK airspace.

In a few years time, perhaps they will be curious to look at a failed socialist experiment ?

There are Russian speakers in England, Wales and Northern Ireland too. Will Putin have to defend them?

Presumably scotland will be allocated a fair share of the RAF's current fleet if they wanted.

The Russian planes were invited by Salmond as a friendly gesture. He's obviously looking to a time when Scotland may be refusedentry to the EU and the Russian Federation is the next best option just in front of Nova Scotia and Corby.

Will that be before or after you get your wish and the UK withdraws from the EU?

i thought the scots want independence, so why leave a club with four members to join another club with over 25 members?

The Raf is moving out of Leuchars this year and the army is moving in instead. Wonder what happens then?

One club is repressive and controls everything from pensions to welfare to security. The other doesn't. Essentially we're in two clubs at the moment - but we're only in the bigger one as a guest of our host. Once we're independent, we'll have our own membership card and can either keep it or hand it in when we choose, not when our host chooses. ;-)

One of them takes all of Scotland's taxes and income at the moment, and graciously gives some of it back.
