I still have Dark Skies on VHS, the whole of NYPD Blue (all series), North Square from C4, all of SeaQuest, Alien Nation, and every Superbowl since 1992. Those were the days eh?
I was thinking, I might record Sarah Connor onto DVD, then I realised it was already scheduled for release on DVD, so I didn't bother.
I've got all episodes of Hippies, from 1999 with Simon Pegg. I say all, there was only 6 made and i loved it . I put them together and burned to my own DVD as i thought it would never be released, but after 9 years it just has been.
Well reading this thread made me feel a lot better about my weird recording habits... turns out they arent so weird!!!
I have every Diagnosis Murder including the original first 2 and the tv feature length specials that where out after the last series and I have taken to recording Murder 101 as well.
Can I ask, would you be willing to do me a copy of a Diagnosis Murder episode I'm missing, called Sleeping Murder. My skybox messed up big time! Would be willing to pay expenses via Paypal...

I am a big fan of the historian Michael Wood and have been recording most of his programmes since the late 80's. The ones I would really love to have are his "Domesday book" series from 1986 and the "Dark Ages" series from 1981. The BBC released a box set of DVDs but they didn't include either of those in it :mad: They both still exist as clips from them have been shown in other programmes.
Let's post my list and see if i'm the winner of the "most obsessive collector of stuff i'll probably never watch again but must put on DVD and store carefully away" award.:D

Going to show my age here but before my mum and dad bought a VCR, I used to audio tape episodes of Coronation Street and the US sit-com Soap. Must have been around 1979 or 1980.
Unfortunately there's no way I could write down my list of shows because it would not only take ages to type out but the nightmare of emptying my tv dvd wardrobe would be horrendous like it is every time I need to find something specific
I used to have tapes of all the eps of Xena sent over to me from a friend in America. Cost me a lots to have a VHS player with the then rare ability to play NTSC material. Course later I bought the whole thing again on DVD but that's kinda cheating. I also taped all the eps of Buffy and Angel for my daughter. Once again I then bought all the DVDS when they became available.
Just recently I had a friend send me over the third season of The Closer, having bought the first two seasons. And I've bought all the eps of Criminal Minds, House and Bones too.

In the late 70's I compiled an audio tape of tv themes.
But how primitive was it - I used to have to hold the mic in front of the tv speaker and it was hard to judge the distance right
PS, I never 'watch' episodes as I'm collecting them. I have the volume down and do something else whilst it's recording they furthur on in time when the collection in finished start watching them in order properly.
Well for stock pile collections. Eg, QI, Mock The Week, Doctor Who I watch as live (and record at the same time)
This thread just got me all nostalgic for Dark Skies. Tape 1 ok. Tape 2 - both copies have lines all over them. *sigh*
I have just been out and bought a 1Tb hard drive, and I'm going to have to start ripping content off my VHS before they all die.
I now have no collections on the go :eek: Can't have this it's the chase of the collecting I enjoy in truth.
I'm toying now with collecting The Grim Adventures Of Billy & Mandy but Cartoon Network's scheduling is messy, I know they will start stuff early all the time, but it’s the likely candidate for me to start next.

Just recently I had a friend send me over the third season of The Closer, having bought the first two seasons. And I've bought all the eps of Criminal Minds, House and Bones too.

In the late 70's I compiled an audio tape of tv themes.
But how primitive was it - I used to have to hold the mic in front of the tv speaker and it was hard to judge the distance right
Well for stock pile collections. Eg, QI, Mock The Week, Doctor Who I watch as live (and record at the same time)
I have just been out and bought a 1Tb hard drive, and I'm going to have to start ripping content off my VHS before they all die.
I'm toying now with collecting The Grim Adventures Of Billy & Mandy but Cartoon Network's scheduling is messy, I know they will start stuff early all the time, but it’s the likely candidate for me to start next.
