Samsung pixon application help

I am trying to reinstall google maps on my samsung pixon phone. It was working fine before it had to have a software update, now it says data connection needed. I can access the internet on my phone fine, but it wont let me do this. Any ideas how to get this working again. I can't seem to delete the application either it has a locked padlock next to it which can't be access by the proctection link.
