I had to do something with the DEP I think it was, but that fixed my game completely. A quick google will give you how to do it.

Yeah I did that, but the game won't let me save it a second time

Like I saved it mid-game then at the end wanted to save it again, it gave me an error -_-

Yeah but it does sound amazing

I quit The Sims 3 though, it keeps crashing and no patch seems to have solved it

mine was doing that all the time until i followed the instructions on here - hasn't crashed since. And before i did this i could hardly get half an hour playing the game

Another thing which may help improve performance and solve freezes with The Sims 3 is the 'Overwatch' mod. It clears up all kinds of bugs and glitches in the game, you can see a full list and try it at http://nraas.wikispaces.com/Overwatch+FAQ

I was looking to pick up seasons on the high street in London, what are the prices for this game? Where would be best to buy it? What price is it in Game?
Last few times I've looked for it in Game it was £29.99 which probably isn't too bad but still seems a little high for me, particularly as I picked up Ambitions for £19.99 late last year.

Seasons is probably the only EP I might get, University doesn't quite pique my interest, but I'm hoping when its released Seasons will come down a little.

Seasons is currently £20.29 on Amazon. Some of the older expansions are down to £12-£13 now.

Thank you, can I have my main game on origin and seasons on the disc?

This might not mean much but the Maxis logo is back on the box for University, so hopefully it will have more of a Sims 2 feel. Until now Sims 3 has just been EA.

EA has owned the Maxis studio since before Sims 1 was released. The only Sims related game released by them before the EA buy out was Sims City. All Sims franchise games have been developed under EA ownership.
University Life is a Sims 2 bundle isnt it?

No, University Life is an expansion for Sims 3 being released next month. The Sims 2 University was an expansion for that game.

Nope they won't work together as the .exe files are totally different. If you have Sims 3 on Steam then you need to buy all the EPs through Steam as well.

^^They are talking about Origin, not steam.

My Sims 3 is the digital download from Origin (or whatever it was called back when S3 was released) but all my expansions are on disc as I found they were generally a lot cheaper elsewhere. I had to change the region code in the registry but apart from that, it installed no problem.

That's all true, but the Maxis involvement fizzled out during The Sims 2 as they switched attention to Spore. The logo was removed from the game as of Sims 2 Pets, and from the box as of Seasons. Maxis also had no involvement in the development of The Sims 3 until recently with University being the first expansion credited to them.
After many years of successful titles in The Sims franchise, in 2006 Electronic Arts transferred all development responsibilities from the original developer, Maxis, to their newly created division initially named The Sims Division, later changed to the current name. Rod Humble was selected to lead this new team as the studio head. Maxis refocused their attention on their next project: Spore.

    ...

Particularly, Will Wright and Maxis were not involved in the development of the latest title in the series, The Sims 3, although many developers of former Maxis products remained involved in its production. This third generation of the main series was developed entirely by The Sims Studio. However in 2012, The Sims Studio became a part of EA Maxis, which made Maxis involved with the development of The Sims franchise once again.

Hi everybody I am currently playing Sims 3/supernatural/Seasons. My vampire Alice is going out with a Fairy called Jules. They moved in together and I made him propose to her....she obviously said yes....But when I went to invite people to the wedding I was scrolling through the potential guests and I came across one that said "Beatrix Crumplebottom, Jules Romantic interest" with a big love heart  I know that I didn't do this!....And I thought all other relationships/interests went out the window once your sim was in a relationship with the other sim, and he was definately single when my sim asked him out etc

My question is: Is it possible for the other sim to cheat on your sim, before they have moved in together and you have "control" of them?....I need to find this out, after all no one wants to marry a cheat! lol :p

EDIT:  I have just noticed in his options he has the option to "confess to cheating"....

Ah yes, my mistake, misread it the first time round. In that case then yes, all Origin digital downloads work with disc installations.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sims_Studio

The team working on Sims 3 was pretty much identical to those who'd worked on TS1 and TS2 and has continued to be so. Rod Humble worked on Sims 2 and headed up the team which created Sims 3 and Will Wright had little involvement in the development of Sims 2, only The Sims.

The reason EA gave for removing the Maxis logo was that the studio no longer existed as it had been merged into the wider production team. However, restructuring a couple of years ago meant EA once again renamed studios working on specific projects, it followed their acquisition of Mythic Studios when they split development back into different genre types and gave the Sims project developers their own studio back.

Sometimes mine doesn't let me save and quit. i have to use the separate options? Unless you weren't saving and quitting, then I'm stumped!

Just started playing the sims 3 after my brother lent me his copy. I'm a Sims and Sims 2 player of old and its taken quite a bit of adjusting to 3, but now I've got a good family going, its enjoyable.

my question is, is it worth me getting the pets expansion? I loved the original Sims unleased, but I'm not sure if this will make Sims 3 more enjoyable...

Not posted in here in months. Kind of stopped playing TS3 for a while after a back injury made sitting at a computer for any length of time impossible and my laptop isn't good enough to run the game. Not only that I lost my legacy family again. Decided to start playing again, as I had Seasons and Pets but only played a few times, but the latest updates totally screwed my game up and I have had to uninstall everythng. Worse still I have misplaced my base game so can't reistall just yet. In the meantime have reverted to TS2 which runs on my laptop but is weird to use lol. Really want to get back into TS3.

By the way anyone got any legacy's going? The ones I had been into finished or players stopped updating. If I find/replace my base game I intend to try another legacy family

Sorry to hear you lost your game, did you make sure to back everything up and patch/install into a clean game? It's the safest way to make sure you have a protected version of your game files. Easiest way to do it is to rename the Electronic Arts folder to Play-Electronic Arts and then, when you install a new EP or patch, the game will create a brand new vanilla install which you can use to test things are working okay before putting your previous save games back.

I have a legacy family in one of my installs, they're only onto generation three atm, mum is a fairy married to a vampire and their kids are a mix of both supernatural types. They're in Moonlight Falls, which I love as a town to play with.

Is anyone playing the Sims on ios or Android? Not a patch on the PC version of course but it seems to be a major improvement since it was first launched.

Hello! I stopped playing for a while too, but University Life has got me right back into it all. Just updated my legacy for the first time in about eight years if anyone fancies a look :)http://theriverslegacy.wordpress.com

Thanks for compiling the list, SoapyJo! I'm not into the whole SimPort thing, but feel free to add me as a SimPal everyone :)

Yes, unlike the S2 version, I find the S3 one to be much better organised and a lot of fun to play without needing a huge bunch of cheats to speed up their Uni time.
I sent one of my vamps to Uni to do a business degree and didn't feel like it was a massive chore getting her through the classes etc. There's also a bunch of cool new interactions they can do and new traits and skills to learn.

Grrr my game just crashed again, first time in a few days though, but I think it had something to do with my sim's phone constantly ringing and not being able to answer it maybe?
