The Thing On The Doorstep 8/10
Cheaply made horror, based on the HP Lovecraft
short story of the same name.
As a horror fan,and a Lovecraft fan,I thought
it was pretty good in a cheesy,'made for a bob'
kind of way! And it more or less stuck to the
original story, which is always a plus in films!
Struck By Lightning - weird opening, full of clichés and the plot doesn't really go anywhere, but if you take it as slightly satirical, light entertainment it's not bad. And anything that has Allison Janney is usually worth a watch 6/10.
A Good Day to Die Hard. - Oh dear. Who ever makes the next one needs to go back and watch the first movie IMO. The new one was just set piece after set piece with no real sense of tension.
- 5/10.
The Last Stand. Enjoyable enough hokum with Arnie playing well on his advancing years. Nothing that will make you come back however once seen.
-7/10.
The last movie was the brilliant 80s Alone In The Dark about people escaping from an asylum starring old timers Jack Palance, Donald Plesance,Martin Landau, and the guy from the a team. Wee cracker.

Just back from seeing Not Another Happy Ending at the closing gala of the Edinburgh Film Festival - very funny, quirky rom-com, full of heart and a couple of unexpected moments in the mostly generic rom-com plot. Couple of issues with audibility of certain characters and camera work errors, but overall a really feel-good, enjoyable movie.
And Karen Gillan is a star. So Not Another Happy Ending = 9/10
Greatest film ever made in my opinion. Followed by Dog Day Afternoon which was also directed by Sidney Lumet.
I watched Up today for the first time. I don't think a film has ever made me feel so emotional before and I wish I hadn't waited so long to see it - 10/10.
Great theme song, even though Adele can only properly pronounce half the words. Daniel Kleinman's opening sequences are always superb. Didn't really rate Naomi Harris. Her role was entirely pointless just for a "she's Moneypenny" payoff at the end. Why was Q a 12-year old boy? Good action sequences. Why does Daniel Craig have to mumble all his lines? Subtitles help. Everyone speaks with a plum in their mouth, like they are doing Keira Knightley impersonations. One would think that everyone in London speaks with received pronounciation. I don't need to see Huw Edwards in a Bond movie. Someone should tell the screenwriters that every line doesn't need to be answered with an "indeed" or a "I should think so" or a "quite right". Javier Bardem was awful. He looked like Jeffrey from "Rainbow". Apparently he owned a computer that could do everything short of making M her morning cup of tea. Judi Dench was the best thing about the film. She'll be missed in future Bond movies, but Ralph Fiennes is an excellent replacement. Nice to see the Aston Martin again. It was funny when Bond got really mad when they blew it up. Interesting to see Bond cry in a film. Did he cry when Tracy was killed? That was a nice touch. A flawed movie, but enjoyable for the most part.
Time Bandits (1981) Terry Gilliam and an "all star" cast. Slow enough in the early sections though John Cleese Robin Hood is a smarmy suburban delight, builds to a spirited climax and who could be better as the Supreme Being than Ralph Richardson?
(I also like the way Gilliam/Palins script killed the boys parents right at the end! )

Awesome movie. Jennifer Jason Leigh was a sensational villain, and Bridget Fonda the embodiment of sexiness.
a ball bursting TEN out of TEN!!!!!
still glorious now
gonna be glorious hundred years from now!
Great fun. Had me laughing out loud.

Poor Ben Whishaw, he's actually 32 and I bet he still get's asked for ID when buying an 18. Or is that lucky Ben Whishaw?
Ok but I like the first film more
I agree it was utterly ridiculous but probably the funniest film I've seen in years
