Apart from Sky News HD, are there any other HD channels launching soon on Sky?

And Sky Sports News HD! :D. I hope we get Comedy Central HD as a lot of their programmes are now in HD.

Although there has been no confirmation of a launch, broadcast licences for Nickelodeon HD and Travel Channel HD were issued by Ofcom this week.

Yeah, I seen that too, they must be going to launch soon, otherwise why issue a licence.

I don't know the UK's Nickelodeon schedule by heart but referring to the German version there's scarcely anything in 16:9 so what will there be on an HD channel?

For Scottish Subscribers STV have been telling folks they are "working on" an HD offering. That could be a vaporware, to answer complaints about their blocking ITV HD north of the border.

Would like Fashion TV HD to launch on Sky. Also agfter Sky News HD would be nice if they could put Fox News HD up also.

Interpreting OFCOM licences is tricky as channels uplinked from the UK - but destined for other countries - need them as well. However these two do sound like UK channels.

And, sadly, about as imminent as Santa.

Though I do hope to be proven wrong by Sky and Virgin actually talking to one another, doing a swap deal and putting viewers first.

Much more likely now I would have thought! It was pointless Virgin talking to Sky about, at least, Movies and Sports if OFCOM was going to deliver the channels at a mandated price! The draft reports made this look likely - but it hasn't quite happened like that (and after 3 years!)

Nickelodeon have said they have no immediate plans for UK launch. They are going to monitor the market and see how it develops.

i'd like to see a few more documentry channels in hd such as eden, or discovery science, or yesterday, or the military channel because the picture detail that you get with hd is more suited to documentary-style programmes

at the moment there is around only 6 documentary channels and there ought to be many more.
