Secondary schools can not recruit / retain enough good teachers...?

Could this be due to:

Low salaries (especially now the economy is picking up)?

Work load too high?

Unruly pupils / parents?

Unruly staff / Ofsted / Governments?

All of the above...?

I tried teaching (maths) in secondary schools and it was an experience I would never repeat. FE colleges were slightly better.

If you were education secretary, how would you improve the learning of maths (at all levels)?

I remember it being a problem around 40 years ago, so only #3 comes close.

It would be interesting to know if grammar and good schools have the same problem.

25% of them have retired, 20% of them have gone abroad, and 60% of them are still here.
