I see huw Stephens has been given breakfast for a week as grimmy would of had 3 weeks off for Christmas. Not even Chris did that, a big show for huw as it is back to normal week for most. Also fearne is still off 2 and a half weeks, surely her show must be getting the chop soon. She is never there and the show has been stale for a while now, to the fact you can pretty much guess what she is going to say after each song. I would think end of next year we will see what happens to Scott Mills as his 3 year contract will be up. I can Matt and Scott doing a swap maybe Chris going with Matt. Plus Alice and Fearne swapping shows.

Huw Stephens has to be an improvement on Grimmy, doesn't he? I don't normally listen to Radio 1 Breakfast but I might next week.
Not sure about the other changes - Radio 1 is really evening listening for me, when thay play more varied (and just more) music than in the daytime.
It's has been traditionally the 'New Music' week for years. I remember when the nighttime presenters used to take over the daytime shows for the week, with Zane on Breakfast, Annie Mac on mornings, Huw on afternoons, and Grimmy on drive.

I do like Huw, and on the odd occasion I've heard the evening show, he sounds much more in his element than rehashing Rihanna every hour on weekends.
Often the best week of Radio 1 all year. Grimmy was better at doing this sort of show I think.
Zane- I doubt he is going anywhere. His show still gets high ratings and his interviews with Jay -Z and Chris Martin last year really opened him up to the daytime audience and got amazing hits on their Youtube channel.
Alice- Definitely a rising star through the BBC Radio 1 schedule. I think they have done really well in giving her a weekend show to craft her skills and then cover for Fearne in small doses so that Fearne's audience can get used to her. I remember reading that is the kind of approach Radio 2 took for Sara Cox before throwing her in the deep end.
Gemma Cairney- I am not sure what her movements will be. They have put her on the graveyard slot years after joining the network and they have used her for their TV coverage eg behind the scenes at R1BW and the fireworks last night. But, again she has been used to cover for Fearne but I can not imagine her being given that slot full time.
Dev- Replaced Huw as daytime cover but I do not think he is appealing to the audience and is more likely to use the pre-set features that for example Greg has with the ten minute take over and Rage against the answer machine.
Matt- He is definitely one to watch , my only problem is he sounds too student radio like with false jokes and features which are not that entertaining. For example if you compare his feature of 'Celebrity Rhyme Time' to Greg Jame's 'Talk to the cows come home'. However, like an above poster said what if Chris Stark joined him? I still think Scott has a fresh approach and is doing well at still targeting the audience with Innuendo Bingo which I know Ben Cooper loves to showcase when speaking about Radio 1.
I've looked back over the schedules in December 2009 and January 2010 and Chris had three weeks off then.

But it was usually the week after Christmas not a standard week
I actually like Nick, it was Chris who wanted to leave in the first place as him and Dave had fallen out about Dave's ex wife, which ended the show.
It's always the first full week of January, so mostly normal weeks.
