Thinking about buying a 2-in-1 blu-ray & HD0-DVD player

Yes yes.. I was one of the folk who backed the losing format. I bought a HD-DVD drive for my xbox 360 along with about a dozen titles. Now obviously the format is obsolite and to rub salt into the wound, my drive no longer works. So i've been thinking about buying one of the machines which were brought out during the "war" which plays both formats. Are they still around anywhere? Will they work ok with my hd-dvd's and any new blu-rays that I might buy?

If I remember rightly they were only made by Samsung sometime around 2007. The chances of getting a new one must be close to zero.

more likely to get a external PC drive that plays HD-DVD's maybe

And the tests on the dual format players indicated they were basically HD DVD players hastily modified for Bluray playback too and the tests also showed that Bluray playback was unreliable and in some cases non existent with some discs.

Movietyme started selling them but they checked out several new Bluray discs on the Samsung , found they would not play so withdrew the player immediately.

Cheaper to buy 2 separate players - and more reliable

You might be better just picking up another XBox360 HD-DVD drive, either new or second hand?
